For people who have tried antacids without success, I am telling you.. Try apple cider vinegar. Nothing worked for me for a decade and I finally tried that and haven’t suffered in 5 years.

Hi Matt, can you please tell me how much apple cider vinegar you used and how you took it, I would love to atop taking pills. Thank you!

1 T. in 5 ounces of water 30 minutes before meals should work for most people.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing, Matt! My father has told me the same thing! I’ll have to try it!

If you do need a prescription use the app GoodRx. It gives you the lowest price available in your area including coupons. I have used this for everything from my birth control to inhalers and even my dogs medication!

I just want to put it out there that this should not be used unless you have reflux diagnosed by a doctor and have exhausted all other options first. Omeprazole is pretty much the strongest drug out there for reflux and GERD and once you start taking it, it’s hard to stop. Basically if you do stop you get rebound reflux which is worse for most people. Also, it’s cheaper to get it with a prescription if you have insurance.

Insurance will not cover omeprazole or lansoprazole for my husband nor I since they are sold over the counter. We have Blue Choice Insurance.

I find the best price on Omeprazole 42 count at Sam’s Club for $13.98 (.33 each). My husband uses those. I use lansoprazole and the 42 ct are $14.88 (.35 each). These both must be taken everyday in order to be effective. They aren’t a “as needed” drug. That would be Pepcid or Zantac. I sometimes take generic Pepcid, famotidine which I can also get at Sam’s 200 ct for $8.76 (.04 each). Sometimes Sam’s does run sales on these drugs and you can save $2-3 on them.
