A few perks of working for VIPKID:

  1. Flexible Schedule
    • You can work from home or anywhere else that you want – no commuter traffic! You’ll be able to set your own schedule and work as few or as many hours as you’d like. (It’s recommended that qualified teachers be available for at least 7.5 hours of teaching time per week.)

  2. No lesson plans OR grading
    • VIPKID provides the lesson plans for you to choose from. They even communicate with parents so you don’t have to! You just need a computer, passion, and skills for teaching.

  3. No education degree required
    • You don’t need a degree in education to be a VIPKID teacher! All you need is a bachelor’s degree in ANY field AND one school-year of traditional teaching experience or the equivalent in mentoring, tutoring, or alternative education.

  4. Earn up to $22/hour from home!
    • Qualified teachers will teach English to young students online and will make between $14-$22 per hour. Your minimum pay will be determined by your demo class performance and incentives by your monthly class participation and completion.

  5. No teaching HUGE classrooms
    • Do large classrooms intimidate you? No worries! All VIPKID classes are one-on-one to ensure they meet 100% of each student’s needs.

“Best part-time job out there! I teach every morning while my kids are sleeping. It is an amazing way to make extra money from home. I sub during the school day and love this morning job. Highly recommend it.”

“I too am going to jump on the bandwagon and say that I LOVE teaching with VIPKID! The children are precious, and it’s so exciting to see them learn and grow! I have formed a special bond with my regular students and even some of their parents! (Some of my regular students and I write letters, send packages, and keep each other updated on our lives! It’s so fun!). I never expected that from this job! The pay is great and I love the flexibility.”

VIPKID has been such a blessing to my family. I have been teaching since January. I actually signed up from one of these posts. It took me seeing this posted about three times & doing a ton of research before I decided that I was ready to give it a try (I’m not good at going outside of my comfort zone) & I so regret not doing it sooner.

We just recently bought my husband a brand new truck with the extra income! I teach about 150 classes a month & I am in the process of helping a couple teachers from our school district through the hiring process right now. It is something I 100% believe in or I wouldn’t be referring my friends, neighbors, & co-workers.”

Another current VIPKID teacher here! I also serve as a coach and mentor within the company. I absolutely LOVE the flexibility this wonderful job gives me and my family. I am able to continue staying home with my two young kiddos while still contributing to our familyโ€™s finances. I actually make as much now as I did as a classroom teacher here in North Carolina! I would love to chat with anyone who may be interested in also pursuing this amazing opportunity! My email address is laurenmac10@gmail.com or find more information here https://t.vipkid.com.cn/activity/popup?refereeId=6783306&refersourceid=a01. Potential applicants who follow the process with a current teacher are more likely to be hired and I would love to help you through the process!

    • Jessica

Lauren, I used your referral code and scheduled an interview! Yay! Iโ€™m an RN who works from home with a masters in business. Hoping to get on board with this!
      Thanks for posting H2S!

    • Kelsie Brooks

Hi Lauren! I have been thinking about applying to teach with Vipkid. I do however, have a few questions. I am currently a special education teacher. I have been looking for a job I can do at home. Can you teach during the day? I would love to do this if I could teach during the day and make what I am making now in the classroom.

      • Lauren Mobley

Hey Kelsie! I would love to answer your questions ๐Ÿ™‚ Please feel free to email me at laurenmac10@gmail.com and we can get into the specifics of how this could work for your family and get you out of the traditional classroom ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Danielle

Iโ€™ve been working for VIPKID for 2 years next month! It has been the best part time job ever! I work early in the morning while my kids are asleep, then I have the whole day with them. Feel free to email with questions. Dscoville9@gmail.com

If you were on the fence about this, I encourage you to give it a try! I have been working at VIPKID since last March and it has been a blessing to my family. It gives us the wiggle room in our budget that was hard to find on a 1-person income. I do not have a teaching degree and it is not a problem! I can still homeschool my kids, teach before they wake up and have a job! If you are interested in applying, let me know if you have any questions!! If you are applying I would appreciate you using my referral code if you donโ€™t already have one https://t.vipkid.com.cn/mkt/landing/personal?referralToken=5b3bc44f0e74105c7e9dae42078aa954&refereeId=13470916

  4. Patty

I literally just got my TEFL certificate but you need a Bachelor’s degree to get a job with them. Next option for me…

    • Ashley

Patty, If you do not yet have your BA, but are working towards a degree, you may consider one of the smaller VipKid companies, SayABC. Your TEFL will help you get hired! Please use the code E66E55 when you apply! Thanks and good luck!

I absolutely LOVE my job as a VIPKID teacher! Iโ€™ve been a teacher now for over 6 months, and I recommend this company to anyone that wants a flexible and fun work from home position. I even wrote a seriously in-depth post over on my blog about Vipkid, including tips to pass the interview and demo classes and how to set up your classroom. Check it out: https://thesavvysparrow.com/work-from-home-teaching-english-a-vipkid-review/. And I would love to answer any questions you have! Please use my referral link found on my post!

How do they contact you for interview? Do they call? Iโ€™m confused.

  7. Kalissa

I have been working for VIPKID for almost 2 years and love it! If you need any help through the process or tips please contact me for any questions. kalissacotten@gmail.com

  8. Megan Lunt

Can anyone tell me how much money you can make and what hours you usually work?

    • Amy

Megan, It can vary because they give you any amount based on your interview/demo, etc. They also give $2/hour an he of incentives for finished classes and so forth. The classes are 25 minutes, so at $8/class plus the $2 I always make $20 an hour. I thought it was a scam initially or too good to be true. But I have been with them for 8 months and it has been amazing. You do file your own taxes so keep that in mind. Some of your income will need to be set aside. I basically had no teaching experience, except homeschooling for a year. I absolutely love the job. The kids find a place in your heart. You wake up, teach in your pj pants, make $100, more or less, depending on how much you want to work, and are done by 9:30 Am. It did take me awhile to get booked regularly, initially but in glad I stuck in there.

    • Lauren Mobley

You can make anywhere from $18-22 an hour depending on how much you teach and your prior certifications.

    • Amy W.

Hey Megan! I make $10 per 25 minute class… add in a maximum of 5 minutes to review the slides before class and leave student feedback after class and it comes out to $10 per 30 minutes or $20 per hour. I wrote an in-depth post with just about everything you need to know about Vipkid over on my blog: https://thesavvysparrow.com/work-from-home-teaching-english-a-vipkid-review/. I go into detail about how the pay breaks down and how much you can really earn. Check it out! And please use my referral link in the post! ๐Ÿ˜„

so dont apply if u dont have a degree?

  10. Brendalou Melchiorre

Working with VIPKID has been amazing. I love that I can teach early in the morning before my kids go to school. I have met so many wonderful families in China and have a fully booked schedule of regular students. These families take learning English seriously. They want teachers with a North American accent, so they can sound like a native English speaker. My kids are also learning Mandarin online through LINGOBUS, which is a part of VIPKID. If you are not a morning person, donโ€™t worry! You can teach evenings/ nights on the weekends, summers, and Chinese holidays! ๐Ÿ˜. I am happy to help if you have questions! You can connect with me on INSTAGRAM: @louatc Or linktr.ee/louatc If you are looking for a fun & flexible way to work from home, check it out!

    • Mary Hodges

do u have to have a degree?

      • Brendalou Melchiorre

Yes, they do require a 4 year degree.

  11. Jordan

I did teach with VIPKID last year but the taxes were horrible…is there a trick to it? How much did you all owe in taxes??

  12. C

I applied. I have a degree in English Lit and they rejected me. Not sure what the secret is, but they never did explain it.

    • Ashley

C, I encourage you to reapply if you do indeed have a degree and some experience working with kids. You can email and ask to be reconsidered, or, just submit a new application with a different email. (Easiest option!) Please make sure to highlight work or volunteer experiences that show you can interact and teach kids. (Afterschool activities, church events, coaching are all great to list!) Hope this helps! Best Wishes!

Hi, Does anyone recommend going to VIPKid Coaching Day prior to the mock class?

    • Stephanie

Hi, C.J.! I attended the VIPKid Coaching Day prior to getting hired and I definitely found it beneficial. If you have the opportunity, I would recommend it.

    • Lauren Mobley

YES!! I am a coach here in North Carolina and I cannot say how helpful the on-site events are ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Jen

    Thanks for sharing H2S!
I’m currently employed full time at $25hr but am looking to leave my job so that I may spend more time at home with my children (1 & 11). I would still like to contribute to our families income, as me quitting my job will totally make an impact in our finances, but my husband & I have already discussed the pros & cons. So, with that being said….I am definitely going to look into VIP Kid but am also interested in hearing about other legitimate work from home jobs. Does anyone know of full time/part time teleworking jobs? I’m not interested in the sales type (Lularoe, Mary Kay etc). Feel free to email me at jvazq2011 at gmail
