FYI- I bought this last time it was on sale. My case only had a 4 month best by date. Contacted Amazon and they resolved the issue. I actually donated most of it to my local food bank.
You could have put it in your freezer. I do that with my flour, and bulk oatmeal also.
Always fed my boys rice cereal years ago, but my daughter in law recently bought this and the pediatrician told her to NEVER feed my grandson rice cereal. I don’t recall the exact details, but something in it is not good for babies and they no longer recommend it. At this point my daughter in law is stuck with throwing away the case she bought because she doesn’t feel comfortable even giving it to a women’s shelter based on the info she received.
I always used this brand with my kids when they were babies . I am curious to know why rice cereal isn’t good for babies.
Throwing out info like this is annoying. Too vague to make any inferences off of but enough to instill fear in new moms. I did a ton of research prior to giving my kids rice cereal. Pediatricians have been recommending to supplement with this as early as 3 months for decades.
although your intentions may be good, you are also “throwing out info” without citing a source. pediatricians have NOT been recommending this for decades. the Mayo clinic and the American Academy of Pediatrics instruct that solids NOT be started as young as 3 months. it contributes to food allergies later on and possible digestive issues when started in infants younger than 4 months.
some infants with a medical need may be prescribed rice-starch thickened formula, but this is not the same as introducing rice cereal to the formula.

My grandson’s pediatrician conveyed there are levels of arsenic in the rice cereal as stated in this article:

In regards to allergies… Experts now believe that the window of opportunity to expose your baby to food allergens is around 4-6 months of age, and possibly earlier. In fact, The first large-scale study (conducted by LEAP) (640 babies) that showed peanut consumption in high-risk infants between 4 and 11 months of age reduced the rate of peanut allergy by 81%. However, many infants are not ready to eat solid food until after 6 months. Check out Ready, Set, Food! allows you to start early while your baby is still drinking breastmilk or formula. Studies now show early introduction is the key to avoiding food allergies, not causing them. Check it out!
