RXBAR Recalls Select Protein Bars Due to Possible Peanuts
Allergic to peanuts? Read this!
RXBAR, a company that makes all-natural protein bars, has a voluntary recall on a wide variety of flavors because they may have undeclared peanuts in them. This is a health risk because it could trigger a life-threatening reaction in consumers who are allergic to peanuts.
In December 2018, RXBAR identified the potential for peanuts to be in two varieties – Chocolate Sea Salt and Coconut Chocolate – and initiated a recall of those varieties. However, they are now expanding the recall to include the following varieties out of an abundance of caution as consumers have reported allergic reactions to additional varieties.
The impacted varieties have “Best By” dates ranging between 1/14/19 and 10/19/19, depending on the variety.
- RXBAR: Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Hazelnut, Chocolate Sea Salt, Coconut Chocolate, Coffee Chocolate, Mango Pineapple, Maple Sea Salt, Mint Chocolate, Mixed Berry, Pumpkin Spice.
- RXBAR Kids: Apple Cinnamon Raisin, Berry Blast, Chocolate Chip.
The company noted that the recalled bars are safe for consumers who do not have a peanut allergy.
This warning printed on my Pick N Save receipt this week…it was a long addendum at the bottom of the receipt listing all the varieties. I haven’t seen that before…I wonder if they will be doing that for all recalls now?
My Kroger started doing this too! Nice!
I work in the food industry. The RX bars in the picture are not part of the recall. None of the kids ones are. You may want to consider changing the image to avoid confusion.
The kids ones listed by H2S are part of the recall. I got an email directly from RXBAR Customer service and they listed those and all the other varieties that H2S has shared in this post and pictures.
They actually are apart of the recall, unfortunately. So they are a okay to use the picture. 🙂
They are. I tried to buy my child a box the other day and couldn’t.
