Here’s a helpful tip from our awesome readers

So I actually just did this deal at my local Sam’s Club. I bought the membership for $45 with the code I got from my email (when you follow the link, you give your email and it sends a code that the associate needs to put in when they sign you up for the membership). Then during that same visit, I bought like $80 worth of stuff, and $45 came off that purchase when I was checking out. Hope that helps.

Please note that after this purchase, you will be set up for Auto Renewal after your first transaction in club, which will be an annual recurring charge in the amount of the, then standard, membership fee for all active memberships on your account. You can manage and/or cancel your auto renew subscription anytime by logging on to your account on SamsClub.com.

Also when I signed up they texted a link to a “treasure hunt.” Answer the questions and get coupons: free rotisserie chicken, $2 off organic bananas (making a bundle free), etc. Awesome deal!

    • Cassandra (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Awesome, NicoleD!

  2. Lexie

I had a membership but it expired in October. Can I do this deal?

    • DSch

Needs to be 6 months, Lexie.

I went there again the other day, and they told me 10 years if you had a Sam’s Club membership with in that timeframe you cannot get the deals…!! And I live in Florida…

    • Chris

Ten years?!! Can their systems even track that?

    • Peaches

Sounds like someone was full of poo.

If your membership has expired just wait a month. I just got a post card telling me that Sam’s was giving me a free months extension plus a $20 gift card when I renewed my membership.

Do you know if Costco is doing the membership deal? Tia

Can we use the $45 promo code online purchase via samsclub.com?

    • melinda yorchak

I would also like to know more about samsclub.com. our nearest one is 45 min drive. Do they do free shipping and are deals as good online?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes! The $45 offer will apply online when adding qualifying eligible items to your cart. Hope that helps!

    • Suz in OH

Amber is right (of course!) that you can get the $45 back at samsclub.com. I did the $45 membership, then went in to My Account, upgraded to Plus for another $55 . Placed on online order just a few hours later and got the $45 off, even though I saw in fine print it might take 72 hours to get the $ back.

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! Thanks so much for the feedback! Glad you were able to score the offer! 😀

Anyone know of a Costco Membership Deal?
I have always used my moms but they will not let me anymore… guess I got too old! LOL

    • Tracey

Sometimes Costco has deals through employers, groupon, etc where you get free items with a new membership. My daughter decided to get her own membership last weekend (she is 25 with a job now!), and I told her she could use my employer code to get free Kirkland brand TP, free 187 oz fabric softener, & free tortilla chips. She passed!!! I was like, is that my daughter?? Who passes up free TP?? What can you do. I wish I could pass along my employer code, but don’t think I am allowed to.

  8. Barb

Do you have to spend the $45 all at one time?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes, it appears so – “The $45 incentive will be automatically deducted through Instant Savings at checkout when you purchase at least $45 in eligible products. …receive an offer for $45 off one transaction of $45 of more of qualifying purchases” Hope that helps!

  9. Sue

I can’t get the link to work. It says “go here” and enter email and it does nothing.

So where do I go to get the promotional code?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hmm, are you having trouble clicking through the link above? If so, maybe try again in a different browser. If you have any further issues grabbing the offer, be sure to call in to customer service for further help! 1-888-746-7726 Hoping it works for you soon!

  10. DealDad

Our membership expired about a year ago and we didn’t renew. Have debated if membership worth it with so many other ways we find deals at Kroger and Aldi.

But I did submit my email for this deal and they emailed me the offer to take to our local Sam’s. Offer in the email expires Feb 28.

Now weighing out if worth it adding Sam’s back to our deal shopping routine. Do you have a post that discusses the pluses and minuses of a Sam’s Membership? So often, it seems the savings really isn’t there.

  11. riss

Our Costco is less than 4 miles from me, which I’m a member of. Sam’s club is only 2 miles from my house, so I’m considering this as it’ll come out as free. Plus there’s always less people there. So if I do this deal, as long as the items are not on sale, the $45 will apply? Thanks.

  12. Nichole

Is there somewhere I need to enter the promo code when signing up online? I’m not seeing anywhere to enter a code.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Nichole! Great question! A few other readers had the same issue and when speaking with customer service they found the offer to apply as long as they were clicking through the link in the email. You can always call in to be certain – 1-888-746-7726

      Hope that helps!

      • APat

I signed up through email and it didnt ask me the code when i signed up. I chat with customer service and they said it will apply automatically after 72 hours. I wonder how when it didn’t ask me for discount code. Anyways, I will wait 72 hours and see, if doesnt apply then I will cancel membership as i don’t want to spend $45. Also, on side note they have bad customer service through phone. They hung up my call 3 times. I am very disappointed. I am always costco fan but the deal was awesome so tried.

        • dalma

I signed up online too. They never credited the $45 on my account. I spoke with multiple people at the customer service dep over the phone and via email, but my problem was never solved. Finally today I visited the store where they corrected the issue within 20 minutes.

  13. jaci

I also was sent a $5 ecard. No treasure hunt though.

    • Chelsea

Can I ask how long it took to receive the $45 and $5 gift card?

    • Cindi

I also got the $5 ecard and the $45 were applied in store when I went in to get my physical card yesterday and decided to shop around a bit. The treasure hunt you can do while in store by going to http://www.samsclub/play –they give you instant coupons on a number of items (including free rotisserie chicken) and apparently some cafe freebies, too.

  14. Sara

Hi, can anyone let me know if how to redeem the Sam’s offer in Ibotta? Thanks in advance.

  15. fivejaze

I just wanted to let everyone know how my first membership at Sam’s club went. I went to the above link and entered my email and received a code. I went to Sam’s on Monday and showed the code. Actual cost to me was $47.25 as tax was added. I then received the treasure hunt map where I used the free rotisserie chicken, $2 off strawberries, Free pizza from cafe, free drink from cafe, gave away the free sundae. I then proceeded to buy other groceries and received the free $45 in groceries which came off automatically when I checked out (I did have to prompt the treasure hunt coupons to get them to work so double check). When I got home, I submitted my membership receipt to ibotta and received the $10 for membership purchase. In addition, I did receive a small amount in my Dosh account for both the membership purchase as well as the groceries that I purchased. Finally I went into the Sam’s Club online account and deleted the auto renewal.

I was extremely nervous completing this process as I was sure something would go wrong along the way. I am extremely happy to say that all went smoothly and Sam’s Club actually paid me to become a member. Hope this helps! BTW – thank you hip2save team!

In case you need a DOSH referral, please use JODIEV1. Thanks in advance.

    • Amber

I signed up with your referral. Thanks!

If anyone would like to sign up…my referral code is: AMBERB594
      Thanks in advance!

Have anyone run into problem to activate the membership in store? I went through the link and got the promotion code, but when I went to our local Sam’s (in Houston, TX ) I was told that it’s an online only offer and they will not be able to help me activate the membership in store with the promotion code.

  17. Kathleen

This post said this offer was good thru Feb 28th. But the links aren’t working. Is this offer still valid or not?
    Thank you.
