Tired of Porch Pirates? Amazon Day Lets Prime Members Pick Their Delivery Day!
Introducing Amazon Day!
Amazon just rolled out a convenient, new delivery feature exclusively for Prime members – Amazon Day! Prime members can now choose a day of the week that works best for them to be their designated delivery day, making it easier to get orders grouped and delivered together – and possibly in fewer packages. Plus, if you’re worried of having unattended packages stolen, you can choose the day you’ll likely be home for delivery!
Monday? Nope. Tuesday? Doctor’s appointment. I’ll pick Wednesday! ✅
Plus, Prime members can easily change their Amazon Day at checkout to another day that works best for them. Need an item sooner than your designated day? You can choose from Prime’s fast, free 2-day shipping (or Prime’s other delivery options) for any item you don’t want to include as part of your Amazon Day shipment.
Not only does Amazon Day add an extra level of convenience for Prime shoppers, but it may help lower the cost of fulfilling Prime shipping, which has risen in recent years. According to their press release, Amazon Day is just one of many sustainability initiatives to help achieve their “Shipment Zero” project, which is the company’s vision to make all shipments net zero carbon, with 50% of all shipments net zero by 2030.

Ill tell ya what im not tired of… when the scumbags are on the porch trying to steal someones stuff and they are full faced caught on camera !! Of course it shouldnt go on and sadly it does but it is super funny and well deserved when they are smack dab unknowingly on camera and get caught red handed. Its even more funny when there is actually a trap set. Those fools completely deserve to go viral online so their family and friends can see how ‘classy’ they are. And so they can go to jail !!
Have you seen the glitter bomb traps? Those are hilarious.
One of the moms at my sons school had a package stolen off their porch. Amazon sent a replacement, which was stolen of their porch…SO the mom decided she would just box up a weeks worth of dirty diapers and set it on the porch…Yep! They stole that one too!! LOL!!!
LOL! Would love to have seen their faces when they discovered the contents.
I would loved to witness their faces upon opening. 😂
Don’t forget you can also have your package delivered to a locker in your local Whole Foods Market.
So happy that you can now pick your own delivery day. Sometimes items are too big for Amazon Lockers, so this is a fantastic option.
Or just get a post office box, then they hold everything and you just go pick it up. Also, choosing amazon day does not let you rack up the $1 no rush credits, and if you are like me and order 1 item at a time, they add up.
There are two problems with that. First, PO boxes cost money while front porches and existing mailboxes at homes don’t. Second, some items can’t be delivered to PO boxes.
A large PO box is like 45 a year, if you lose more than one high-value package per year its well worth it. Also there are very few items that cannot be delivered to a PO box mostly food baskets or hazmat items so maybe it would not solve the problem, but it comes pretty darn close.
I wasn’t clear enough. Some companies won’t ship to PO boxes, even if the item can go in the box.
I don’t know where you live, but a large 11″ x 11″ box at my post office is $356 per year. A medium 5.5″ x 11″ box is $234 per year. A small 5″ x 5.5″ box is $134 per year. I don’t know how much an extra small 3″ x 5.5″ box is because it is currently waitlisted. The prices are high because my post office only offers premium boxes. Premium boxes come with a street address, Signature on File, one month free when you pay yearly, and no deposit on the first two keys for a new box. Eight out of the eleven post office in my city only offer premium boxes.
The only post office that I can get to that has a regular large box charges $274 per year.
Amazon already let’s you pick your s&s date, at least that’s what they claim. I am an Amazon Prime member and have a specific date for my S&S items to be delivered. But Amazon takes it upon themselves to send it out anytime they choose, 2 days before, 5 days before. I come home to find boxes thrown, not placed, on my steps blocking my door. They know when I open the door they’ll go flying down the steps. I’ve had damaged items, stolen items, even boxes that we’re gone through on the Amazon truck as they sit in front of my house. The delivery people for Amazon are criminals themselves. I know at least 30 other people who are having the same problems. There customer service is non existent. The only time I ever got a refund was when 1 honestly delivery boy contacted them to tell them something exploded. Thieves are everywhere, you can’t even trust your neighbors. They will steal packages off the property and door right in front of cameras.Amazon can go fly a kite. There’s too much other competition out there, Amazon better wise up.I had food delivered from Amazon prime. The thieves actually took the time to open the box and take out only what they wanted. So I took the box from my meal delivery service and filled it with cabbage leaves. On top a steaming pile of dog poo topped with fresh orange slices. Eat….! They took the box. Hope you enjoyed your gourmet meal!
Amazon has really gone down hill. The other day my package was empty! Empty! Envelope was completely flat. I couldn’t believe it. It also seems like all the packages delivered by amazon drivers are late. Anyone else having issues ?
Omg that is the absolute worst story !! I cant believe it went thru a total process and was empty. I know it made u so po’d but thank you for giving me a true belly laugh. Sometimes u just have to laugh in order to not go crazy.
All the time. They delivered my box yesterday and put it in front of my garage door. Luckily my husband saw it before he backed out. Things are always damaged and broken. I am constantly making them reship items.
order some clothes and they were the wrong size, the plastic bag they were in, had a label that said the correct size i order
Their delivery people are the worst. They’re not as careful with packages. I had one item thrown into our yard like a newspaper on a rainy day… and it was an electronic device. I was livid.
Ha. I thought I was the only one who received an empty package. Guess it’s more common than I thought. The 1st package they sent had the wrong sized item. They told me to keep it and they would send the right size. The second one was the package that was empty. Whaaat?! The third time they got it right. I’ve also had delivery people leave “heavy” packages on my driveway-not my porch. Guess it was too heavy to walk the extra 6 ft.
I’m sorry to hear about the negative experiences some of you have been having. My experiences have been close to 100% positive. I did have one deliverer ring the doorbell. When it wasn’t answered she thought she could walk off with it and report it was delivered. I was able to capture the whole episode on my Ring doorbell. Amazon customer service was great. The order was replaced. I’ve had an item or 2 that needed to be returned and had no problem doing so. I can’t complain about the service I have received. I am concerned however about those low life thieves who steal packages off of people’s porches.
I live in a relatively small City. My UPS driver delivers my packages and it’s usually the same driver. He’s kind enough to leave packages in our garage out of view. I sometimes have trouble locating them because he will cover them with a tarp we have in the garage. I haven’t had any porch pirates yet….knock on wood….but my mom has.
I haven’t ever had any problems getting a refund or a replacement. I’ve even received refunds from Amazon on items that stated no returns. I have also been lucky to not have anything stolen.
Unfortunately our UPS drivers will not ring the doorbell so something can be sitting outside in the rain and you would never know it. Not to mention the crazy porch pirates….grrrrr!
I just want to say – and I’m totally guilty of it too – but we are a SPOILED AS HECK society when we’re complaining about what day our S&S shipments arrive at our front step. It’s bizarre that we (again, myself included) have come to this kind of whining. Remember “back in the day” when you had no choice but to drive to the store to get your toilet paper? I’m sorry to step on the soap box but, again, I’m also one that needs a reality check once in a while. We’re crazy. I grew up in a town that didn’t have any shopping (and one stop light) so we had to drive (gasp) 20 min to get even a can of corn. To hit up a big box store was more like an hour round trip (and we did it all the time without complaint). Now we’re a society of convenience and we whine the moment we don’t get our way.
ANYWAY – point being – if you have porch pirates, that’s crummy. I love my Ring Doorbell for this reason and I’m really glad I haven’t had this issue, I know I’m lucky. A customer of mine had $$$$ curtains stolen TWICE and lost her money entirely the 2nd time as they wouldn’t replace. It’s really sad and pathetic. I’ve been using the “pick your day” service for a while and it’s worked out nicely for me. My husband, on the other hand, is often wondering why we have a billion packages every Monday, so my shopping habit has become a little less inconspicuous. 🙂
Question… you said you get “a billion packages every Monday.” Isn’t one reason behind the pick your day service is so that they use less packaging by shipping items together? I realize some items can come from different fulfillment centers, but how does that help their net zero mission? I’m beginning to think Amazon is only doing this to reduce their workforce.
Agreed. I still don’t have everything packaged together but I do have less packages. But when I order larger bulk items, it still winds up being quite a few packages. I also get a lot of work shipments which come from various sellers other than Amazon (but are still Prime and deliver the same day). Frankly, I find Target to be the biggest “offender” of shipping items in individual boxes as it seems many things come from different warehouses (and they never b/o if they don’t have enough at one warehouse – they used to ship me SOME dog food from one location, and the rest of it from another – all the same product. It was really odd! I would have been OK with them waiting until it was all in stock at one warehouse but they don’t give you that option).
FYI – Amazon is responsible for stolen packages and will replace. Think the limit is $2500.
I had an Amazon box delivered open and completely empty one time. I took it off the porch as the driver was pulling away, so I know porch pirates weren’t involved. The worst part was, it wasn’t for me! It belonged to a neighbor 2 streets over that I didn’t know.
I like how Amazon acts like this is such a convenience (and I do understand it can be useful) for the consumer, when in reality it just saves them (amazon) more money by combining shipments while continuing to increase the price of Prime by outrageous percentages every few years.
I agree with you. Why am I paying an annual fee to have my packages delivered on a certain day?
because they are still being delivered for free – that’s the catch. No matter the $ value, they’ll deliver for free if it’s part of Prime. So there still is a useful aspect to it. It’s sort of like Target offering free shipping with a red card – it’s very self-serving, as they don’t have to pay the 3%+ fees to Visa or MC, etc and also rack up the interest if you have a CC vs. debit. But you get “free” shipping (though a lot of items have to still be a combined $25 value). Every vendor has to have a self-serving reason behind the services they offer it or they will fall victim to the likes of all the other brick & mortar stores that have claimed C11.
I feel blessed reading some of the comments. We have never hasmd anything stolen, and while it is hit or miss where the item is delivered, I an always confident if anything happens to an order or item, broken, quality, etc, Amazon will make it right.
I looove the sliwer shipping credits, bought an expensive digital textbook for my husband, and tv shows for my kids. I don’t like how expensive prime is, but I do feel we get our money out of it. Live their Give A Mouse A Cookies series, my 6 year olds favorite book and show, ever
USPS here is awesome- my mailman always rings the bell when dropping off a package, greet us w/ a smile, and will drop off a package any time of day (even if it means making 2 trips to our house that day) instead of delaying it until the next business day. UPS here is fine too- they’ll drop the package off on time usually and are professional and polite enough.
Amazon delivery personnel here are a nightmare though- they throw packages at the door like they hate us. And they usually drive their own personal vehicles and dress very casually without a uniform- now I’m not complaining that you can’t drive any kind of car that you like or that 1/2 of your butt crack shouldn’t have been on display when you came by but that makes it hard for me to know that you’re here to deliver my package vs. steal one off my porch. Literally no way of knowing that they’re delivery people and not some random person standing on my lawn holding a package in their hand that is likely mine.
