Unless your dog has a specific grain allergy, a grain free diet is NOT healthier for them. Studies have actually linked it to contributing toward heart failure. I’m a veterinarian and I think everyone should be informed before deciding what to feed their dog, and that decision be not just based on price.

FWIW, My vet told me the same thing Re grain free and heart problems.
Do you have any recommendations for dog food?
I do!! Hills, royal canin, Purina pro plan.
I have a 10 yr old golden. Any rec on food?
This has not been the case with my dogs. Dogs are not supposed to eat grains. Imagine what a dog would eat in the wild. I fed my dogs grain free plus real food and they had always been the healthiest (my oldest lived until 10 without any health issues, he was ran over) my 2 year old chihuahua eats the same way and he is super healthy.
I agree with you. My dog has never been healthier feeding him grain free. I feed him Wellness Core with raw wild game. I have tried chicken and turkey too, but he seems to have skin problems when I feed him other than duck or wild game. I have tried Performatrin brand also, but he hates it. I am still trying to get rid of the bag by feeding him both at once. He eventually eats the Performatrin, but actually hunts out the Wellness brand and leaves the other until he is hungry enough to finish it during the day. I really think the raw does make a difference too. I buy his food at Pet Supermarket which always has coupons for either dollars off when you spend a minimum, or a percentage off. Plus, after you buy 10 bags, they give you a coupon for a free bag, as well as earning points to get $5 off your purchase one you reach a spending threshold on anything bought there.
What brands do you recommend ?
