They were sold at retailers like Whole Foods, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Target and other small independent retailers.
The Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration have advised that 93 now 117 people have become ill due to salmonella and are investigating the products included in the recall.
Note that these products may still be on store shelves so you should check the labels before purchasing any fresh cut melon. If you have any fresh cut melon at home you should head here to see the included products and the recalled items.
Nothing is safe anymore. Better to precut yourself
Absolutely! And cheaper and fresher, too. Be sure to wash fruit before cutting into it!!!! And it doesn’t take much time.
I feel like an idiot for asking this, lol but I usually just rinse in water. Is there more I should be doing to wash fruit? Thanks!!
I read somewhere that any cantaloupe has so many ridges on it’s peel that can harbor bacteria, you should scrub it well before cutting.
Oh interesting! Thanks for the tip!
Thank you H2S crew for highlighting these important recalls! So many folks only watch streaming tv that they don’t see news anymore. This may be the first or only place these are shared. You’re doing an important service within your community. 😊
You are SO welcome! Glad these have been helpful!
I never buy pre-cut fruits or vegetables. Problem averted. Thanks for sharing the info about recalls though. Very helpful.
