Earn up to $22/hour from home!

Qualified teachers will teach English to young students online and will make between $14-$22 per hour. Your minimum pay will be determined by your demo class performance and incentives by your monthly class participation and completion.

No teaching HUGE classrooms
Do large classrooms intimidate you? No worries! All VIPKID classes are one-on-one to ensure they meet 100% of each student’s needs.

VIPKID Work from home

Here’s how to ace your VIPKID interview!

There are two ways you can choose to interview with VIPKID. You can either book an interview for a 30-minute session where you showcase your teaching skills to a VIPKID recruiter. Or, you can record an interview with your demo lesson so that a VIPKID recruiter can evaluate you.

To be successful at the VIPKID interview, here are a few tips…

  • Practice the demo lesson PPTs.
  • Take a look at VIPKID’s Applicant Performance Indicators so you know what they’re looking for in candidates.
  • Teach from a place with good background and lighting.
  • Be sure you have a good internet connection.

How much did you start off making?

    • Bethany

I explain the pay scale here: https://www.vipkidstars.com/getting-paid
This is my best month yet. I’m halfway through the pay period and over $600. Should make $1200 this month.

    • Amy

Hi Rosemary! I started off making $8 per class or $16 per hour, base rate. However, I consistently make $20 per hour after extra incentives (which are very easy to get). Your base rate is based on your experience, degree level, and how well you perform in your mock class. I just helped a teacher get hired and her base pay started at $8.50 per class (she has a Master’s degree in education). I wrote a HUGE post on VIPKID on my blog. It will probably answer every question you could ever have! Here’s the link to that post: https://thesavvysparrow.com/work-from-home-teaching-english-a-vipkid-review/

I wrote a huge in-depth post on everything you need to know about Vipkid on my blog. I’m sure it will answer all your questions and then some 🙂 Just google The Savvy Sparrow. The post is under the Money category. (Sorry it won’t let me leave the link here).

I am getting ready to sign my 5th contract!!! I am a 5.0 apple teacher and have taught 2514
Classes, 1183 Students, and 664 Days!!! VIPKID is truly the best job I have ever had. I am a former teacher, turned stay at home mom, and VIPKID allows me to stay home ( while still supporting our family), and also continue to pursue my love of teaching. I love that I do not have to lesson plan, or deal with all the craziness of being a classroom teacher. I love to help others get hired also!!! Please use my code below to apply, and then comment below, so I can help you get hired!!! https://t.vipkid.com.cn/mkt/landing/personal?referralToken=c8ab68cbfe1a46ed57b9fd26a0f91a6c&refereeId=5036148

    Happy Teaching!!!

  7. Bethany Wallace

I love this job so much I started a website to help people get hired. You can check it out at http://www.vipkidstars.com. My kids and I even made a stop motion LEGO video to tell you more about it: https://youtu.be/AkhfwAYepjQ
I’d love to answer any questions. Drop me a line!

  8. Lel

I have a bachelor’s degree and some post grad education. I have no formal teaching or mentoring experience. Just 30 years of experience in different fields. Is there a way to get around that qualification?

    • Samantha

I don’t have a teaching degree either, but I started end of November… If you have any experience with kids… then count that towards your “experience”… Sunday school teacher, babysitting, having your own kids, etc…being in the school system as a student (I counted that as experience)… You’re more of a tutor than a teacher because you’re helping their English pronunciation using the teaching slides already provided

  9. Katie

I’m so interested! So How many days a week is minimum? Could I do it even one day a week or does it need to be 5 days a week? How long is each teaching session?

    • Erink17

There is no minimum required. You open slots that you wish to teach and can open as many or as little as you like. It is very flexible. Each session is 25 minutes.

  10. sheila

I heard the $22 pay is hardly ever given and most start at $14. Is this true?

    • Samantha

It depends on the starting base pay at what you were hired… and then on top of that, they offer additional incentives… so for instance, if you get hired at $7.50 per class, that’s $15 an hour, but then depending on how much you work, you can get more… if you teach at least 35 classes, you get an additional 50 cents per class, if you teach more than 45 classes, you get an additional $1 per class in place of the 50 cents… and sometimes they offer various incentives if you open a certain amount of times, etc…

    • Amy W

Hi Sheila! I started out at $16 per hour, and I only had one year of experience as a preschool teacher. I think that they base it on your experience, degree, and how well you perform in your mock classes. Even though my base pay is $16 per hour, I actually make $20 per hour after extra incentives. I wrote a HUGE post on everything you need to know about VIPKID on my blog here: https://thesavvysparrow.com/work-from-home-teaching-english-a-vipkid-review/ . It will probably answer most of your questions, including more info about payment.

      • Laura

Thanks Amy, I just clicked on your link and found so much invaluable information!

  11. Lauren Mobley

Another current VIPKID teacher here! I also serve as a coach and mentor within the company. I absolutely LOVE the flexibility this wonderful job gives me and my family. I am able to continue staying home with my two young kiddos while still contributing to our family’s finances. I actually make as much now as I did as a classroom teacher here in North Carolina! I would love to chat with anyone who may be interested in also pursuing this amazing opportunity! My email address is laurenmac10@gmail.com or find more information here https://t.vipkid.com.cn/activity/popup?refereeId=6783306&refersourceid=a01. Potential applicants who follow the process with a current teacher are more likely to be hired and I would love to help you through the process!

  12. Ann

I don’t know much about this, but is there an incentive to use someone’s link? I’m guessing some sort of commission. So once you are hired, are you expected to build a team? And recruit other potential teachers?

    • Rebekah Womble

There’s a one-time bonus of $100 if someone applies via your link, but only after that person gets hired and teaches their first class. It’s not like an MLM where they expect you to “build a team.” They do encourage you to refer others and they give you incentives for that, (so you can potentially make more $ for the more referrals you get) but it’s on the side. Some people may get into that a lot. I really don’t. I focus on teaching. I make $1k a month just through teaching my kids. I don’t advertise my link or tell people to apply. I’ve had 7 people apply via my link and it was only because *they* were interested and asked me about it and wanted to use me as their referrer. I do offer mentoring and help for the hiring process.

  13. Haley

    So are you a 1099 or a w2 employee?

    • Vipkid Ashley

We are 1099 employees. Taxes were actually very easy and well done despite the fact that Headquarters is overseas. There are American offices in CA and VIPkid was very knowledgeable about US taxes.

  14. April

I LOVE working for VIPkid and I also work for GogoKid. These companies work so well together. I love my students so much. I don’t even have to do this job and CHOOSE to wake up early and make a full time income because I LOVE it.

    • Megan

Can you tell me more about the differences between both companies? Please email me at kidsfair@yahoo.com.

      Thanks, Megan
