How does it work?

Nah, not paranoid. It’s just creepy that someone else is listening in to your conversations. What I say in my house should be for me & my family, not some random stranger to decide that I need to be bombarded with emails about items we were discussing.
With you on this! Did you know there have been cases where they subpoena Alexa? Crazy huh?! We’ve been massive “victims” of identity theft and to each his own, but we are trying to get off the grid. Totally. Ack….criminals 😡

I will stick with the Post Office. I sign papers that I can use the physical address of my post office and then my po box as my unit #. Fed Ex/ Amazon/ UPS etc. deliver package into post office. Clerks sign for package and then a notice goes in my box saying I got a package.

Aren’t these delivery people just miscellaneous gig workers, like Uber drivers? Are they bonded and insured?
I deliver for amazon through a company that has the contract with Amazon. If you’re talking about Amazon Flex, they are independent contractors. However, the amazon vans are through a delivery service provider, contracted through Amazon. At the end of the day, we couldn’t care less about what’s in your garage. We’re loaded down with 200+ packages per day and a small time frame to get them delivered. The goal is 35 seconds per delivery. So from the moment I park outside your home, grab your package, scan it, deliver it, take a picture, and make it back to the van; it’s 35 seconds. Anything more than that and it took too long. We don’t have time to scope out your garage.

Makes sense… 35 seconds… That’s why you all drive at speeds that are mind blowing in small neighborhoods while kids are out playing, not a good look for any company

If I were the delivery person, I’d be afraid the neighbors would call the cops. And you know how the cops don’t like to ask too many questions.

The fact that Amazon has random people who drive their own cars to deliver now with absolutely no way to verify that’s who they truly are is very disappointing! Some of them are very sketchy and I wouldn’t want them in my garage… i barley want them in the driveway! Last week there were 3 people in one car that came to deliver one tiny envelope! My neighbor thought they were breaking in and came over to check on things. I wish they would only use ups, usps or their amazon marked vans.
I see the people they contract out deliveries to and no way do I want them having access to my garage. The delivery driver is often a girl in an unmarked personal vehicle and a guy is usually the driver. Sometimes there are multiple passengers. Not just creepy. Potentially inviting yourself to be victimized. Robbed or worse later. Amazon can keep their service.
YES! this!! – I had no idea who was at my house one day. Crappy rusted van with 4 people in it – sitting in my driveway. They placed my package in front of my garage door, which I couldn’t see at the time because of my view point. But if I was gone, and my kids were home and this person were opening my garage door. This would most definitely freak them out. No thank you!
While I love my MyQ smart garage door hub I don’t see this as all that since it only applies to Amazon packages. Oddly enough not all of my packages are from Amazon!
I can’t even get Amazon drivers to open my screen door so my packages aren’t out in the open, there’s no way they’re taking the time to open a garage door (if I were willing to let them do that).
Funny share… I asked a subcontracted driver to slow down, my kids were playing in the yard, and he flipped me the bird for as long as he could be seen… just sailing down the block! It really was more comical than not😂🤣 but they sure drive fast 🎢 I could see how this service will be to each their own situation. I always appreciate a delivery bird or not

Next thought: when you give someone a key to your house, if you are robbed, Insurance companies often release their liability to cover your stolen goods in a claim situation. So there’s a good chance the same could be said by your insurance company by giving Amazon a key to the contents of your garage. I’m guessing this was their new idea because their dropping off packages inside your front door didn’t go too well.

When my grandmother was growing up, they had groceries delivered. The milk man would put the carafe inside the fridge in the morning if your door was unlocked! Times have changed though, and nobody trusts like that anymore.
Back in the day, everyone in your town knew the milkman because he’d been working for the local dairy for thirty years. He may have even owned the dairy. So him walking into your house wasn’t any more creepy than your grandpa stopping by lol
I’d rather just use their Amazon Locker service, thank you very much. Bit of a hassle to have to go and get my packages, but better than someone accessing the inside of my garage or house!
We tried this for the first time today. The idiot driver didn’t know how to do it, apparently and proceeded to lock my garage door with the handle, then open it with the app, in turn, breaking my garage door and burning out my motor. We are currently waiting on an Amazon claims representative to call us back. What a gigantic mess.
