My husband and I purchased a hot tub last year. Keep in mind that the hot tub is only one part of the expense – the maintenance chemicals, electricity, and water DO add up very quickly! You will need a firm (and level) base/pad as well as the proper electrical wiring wherever you’ll be setting up the hot tub. Pre-made “pads” do exist, but we opted for a concrete pad which was about $1800 (and that was a discounted price through a friend!). Our electrical work was over $500 – and our monthly electricity bill has increased about $40. We have found it to be an excellent investment for our family…I just want to make sure the potential costs are known. 🙂
