Whaat
I feel like this is probably a mistake.
Some Dollar Generals do actually have final clearance sales that they call “penny clearance”. They do not advertise it that way tho, and if you luck up and find one item that is a penny most times they do not allow you to go back and buy more. There are tons of Facebook groups devoted to DG penny sales. I have never had any luck finding any tho.
Nope no mistake. Dollar General has these 1 cent sales all the time. They mark stuff way down at the end of the season. They don’t advertise it but if you are nearby one, it pays to go in and check it out.💲💲💲
Just went to my local store & they said they had this deal, but they didn’t even know about the sale until a woman came in first thing this morning & bought them all out. I wonder how she knew about it….
There are entire groups devoted to this penny shopping. Managers get a list of what items need to be pulled & hence will ring up a penny. Obviously, they don’t necessarily do it & customers rack up.
There’s an app you can download for $10 that lets you know
For real?!?
These are items that should be pulled from the shelves and if the store employees don’t, then you are in luck – if they don’t refuse the sale.
This is not a sale and is not garaunteed to anyone
I agree! I use to work at Dollar General and if anything rang up for a penny we were suppose to refuse the sale because the items should of been pulled from the shelves.
Actually per the penny policy you’re supposed to sell what they have. Then pull the rest off the shelves.
Thought I was home for the day, saw this and changed my mind! Found 34 pair at first location and zero at second location.
Thanks for the tip! Well worth getting dressed again for.
I checked the one near me. I was going to buy several to donate…for a penny, why not? No luck. The employee did tell me it only happens when employees forget to pull items.
Yep! I used to penny shop at Dollar general until I started working full time! I had fun doing it and donating stuff that would of end up in the garbage anyways.
Toys R Us used to have something like this. I remember someone in a group I was In getting a $300 bounce house thing for a penny because they hadn’t pulled the stock and they honored that price.
But.. sometimes you’ve got to know when to just say no. If you don’t need it why? and why 34 pair of garbagy shoes?
I guess I’m on the other side and just want to get rid of stuff and cheap crap just stresses me out🤨
Agreed! I bought my daughter a pair of boots there once on clearance (not $.01) and she wore them once and the heel which was made out of cardboard broke by the end of her first wear. She’s 12 & not overly hard on footwear.
34 pair of shoes for 34 cents, why not? Most people I know in that devoted group don’t think of just themselves, they donate them to homeless people and to all those kids in the shelter waiting to get adopted. People who do penny shopping enjoy the fun of it and fills their hearts with joy knowing that they could donate such quantities of shoes for nothing.
Thank you for posting this!
Paying full price for stuff stresses me out! Haha…For some people, even a $15 pair of sneakers may just not be in the budget, with rent or mortgage and car costs. I hope that out of the 34 pairs, if any don’t fit, then they will kindly be donated to a local church or shelter to help others. Sidenote, while Dollar General and similar may not scream “quality”, I personally owned a pair of sandals that lasted 3 summers and are still used as an extra pair. Not all the same experience, I am sure…but for a $1 or 1 cents, I’d definitely check this sale out. Thanks H2S team:)
Jan, thank you for posting this! There are lots of kids out there who will hug these items and jump with glee.
Jan. Do you know how to adopted children from the shelter?
It’s called foster care. They are not puppies and you dont just go pick one out.
Jan. Do you know how to adopted children from the shelter? And how old are there?
These shoes are regularly $6. Foster children have an allowance from the state to buy them decent shoes.
Do you also give food shelters expired food?
Seriously? Honestly can’t believe I’ve read this entire thread just to get down to this comment. So unnecessary & rude! If she wants to buy 34 pairs of shoes to donate then that’s a good deed and it’ll come back around- it’s her 34 pennies girlfriend! I was lucky enough to hit a penny sale at dollar general years ago on baskets. I got them all even though they told me they were technically not suppose to “allow it”
When penny shopping at dollar general if you buy just ONE of the penny shoes, the employees will go back, get the rest, and trash them. So it’s BETTER for you to get all penny items. Wouldn’t you rather them go to a shelter and help those in need rather than going straight to the dumpster? Even if they aren’t the greatest shoes, if they help, then awesome!
My mom is a 59 years old and disabled. She gets donations brought to her from the “Food Pantry” & over half of the items are always expired. Some even years! Its awful
The negativity about “cheap” shoes, is stressing ME out. This is a first world problem. There are so many people in NEED including kids who would love a new pair of shoes from anywhere. If someone can get 30 pairs of 1 penny shoes to give away, why blast them? Some of us do like couponing and finding deals to donate and give back and that is OK.
The above comment says that these shoes lasted a day.
If you’re not wanting to spend money then don’t, but don’t give foster children something that won’t last a week and say you did a good deed.
(And cost you nothing) that’s rude.
Is there any heads up about .01 sale
We’ll be sure to keep an eye out, Gail! 🧐
