Not another store?!

Dressbarn just announced that they’re planning to close ALL 660 of their retail stores as part of a wind-down process. Ascena Retail Group Inc., the owner of Dressbarn and other clothing retailers such as Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant, says it wants to focus on its more profitable brands. Here’s what they posted on the Dressbarn website:

“It has been our pleasure to serve you, making it all the more difficult to let you know that the decision has been made to begin winding down the Dressbarn business. This means that we will eventually be closing all of our stores. Dressbarn isn’t going away just yet, however. All Dressbarn stores are open, and our sales associates are serving customers as usual.”

According to this Ascena press release, plans for closing individual Dressbarn locations, including information about store closing sales, will be shared during the wind-down process.

While Dressbarn has not mentioned exactly when they will be closing their doors for good, they encouraged customers to “shop with us and stock up before we close our doors.” For now, you can still earn loyalty rewards, use your Dressbarn credit card, redeem gift cards, make returns, get refunds, and shop online as usual.

This bums me out. I could always count on finding reasonably priced, special occasion dresses there. Will miss shopping at Dress Barn.

Old Navy. And Target online has some good pieces.

    • Liza767k

The Loft has a great plus selection online. They have 40-50% off sales often.

    • Stacy

There is Lane Bryant that is owed by the same company as Dress Barn. Department stores like Penny’s and Belk’s have reason true to size plus size clothing

  4. Rn

Lane Bryant….I only shop their clearance and they always have killer sales. Ross, Target, JCPENNEY,Burlington all have good plus size options. Also Maurice’s and Cato Fashions

  5. Dorothy

I am very sad they are going to close. I have been buying clothes from Dressbarn for many years. I love the quality of the clothes, price and the fit. I have tried other places but the clothes do not fit the same. I will miss the great service I also receive at Dressbarn. ๐Ÿ™

  6. Luna

Oh this makes me sad I simply adore their clothes

  7. Sarah C

This makes me very sad. Iโ€™m currently wearing Dressbarn from head to toe and even my pj pants were perfect from there. So comfy. Dressbarnโ€™s clothes are great quality. Half of my wardrobe is from there. This is very bad news for me.

  8. Cassie S

This is surprising, I know lots of people that shop at DressBarn.

Payless liquidation sale is going on but to be honest I felt its priced more than regular and no deal,no coupon,no returns or exchange.I came back with just 1 pair of shoes for my daughter.

  11. Keila

This news stinks. Dressbarn clothes fit me so well and are comfortable to wear all day at work.

  12. TS

I worked at Dressbarn when I was 17, it was my first job. This is sad ๐Ÿ™

  13. JW

Wow! Just bought gift cards for my mother. Thankfully, she is going shopping tomorrow.

  14. Ms. Frizzle

They don’t call it Dressbarn anymore. The owners renamed it Roz & Ali…

    Look it up!

    • Amy

Not all stores. We shopped at one with that name but they told us they were testing a new concept.

  15. Amanda Sheren

This is my favorite clothing store! Almost my complete wardrobe is from there. Simply stunned. Now I will have to pick and choose from other places. Ugh. I really loved the clothes from Dressbarn and I just donโ€™t understand why they would close all of their stores.

  16. Joe

    Cato clothing

  17. Jackie

My sister has managed a Michigan store for 13 years, they received the news via email from corporate 3 hours after the news broke. Sad that companies operate this way. Gave them no info on how long, benefits etc. Just sad

  18. Vera

Nooo! This is literally like the only store we have for dressy clothes besides JCPenney. ๐Ÿ™

  19. Sales Associate

I have worked for Dressbarn for 2 years now. I am so disappointed for all of our loyal customers, but for all associates loosing our jobs. Dressbarn is a great place to work and shop !!!

  20. Janet Johnson

What a shame. I’m not a good shopper but when I go there I don’t even get out of the dressing room. They bring close to me. Since I found them I have spent more money on clothes than I have in a long time. I don’t get it why do the good shops close
I hear it’s because the bigger brands show better. Think again
