You can order and use another family member’s name and the code should work. I used my daughter’s name and it worked for me.
I really wonder how this will affect Walmart’s bottom line (and other stores that are offering similar services). They are now paying workers to shop for you and missing opportunities to make impulse purchases. How will the gap be filled? Will sales increase enough to cover these cost or will all consumers pay the cost? I don’t know that anyone has the answer, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
I’m wondering if they think more people will shop there purely due to the convenience, instead of other grocery stores not offering this. Thus attracting more customers with larger orders.
I personally have spent a couple thousand I would not have spent there due to this service. Normally I do my grocery shopping at a different store, but they don’t offer free pickup and I have found this to be so convenient with young kids that I have changed my shopping habits. It also has made store employees more knowledgeable about where things are located IMO.
I think they’re filling the gap with people like myself who never shopped at walmart but now I’m a loyal grocery pick up customer. I spend between $200-$250 a week at walmart now when I spent zero before. They’re definitely drawing new people to their store just for this service.
I agree with the other comments. They’re gaining customers that they didn’t have before. I almost never set foot in Walmart before grocery pickup was available. Now, I’m there once a week every week and am spending more there than at my old go-to store.
i am really impressed with walmarts pick up grocery service…ive said in another post, i’m not a fan of others picking out my groceries for me, so it’s probably not something I’ll ever use unless I’m ill…however my son lives in another state and financially struggles…he was in need of groceries and it’s so easy for me to order for him and he can pick up right by his house…they alert you on the app when it’s ready, i saved 10$ off my order and he said everything was top quality with no issues
I hadn’t shopped a single day in over 2 years at Wal-Mart. Never even stepped inside…..until grocery pickup. Now we do grocery pick up there at least once a week. I save my fruit/veggie/fresh fish purchases for grocery pick up at Kroger as I have never had success with getting good quality of those particular items so I just stopped trying. I would think Walmart is gaining more than wasting when it comes to profits regarding grocery pickup

I like Walmart pickup over Shipt because Shipt will charge you more or not match up with sale items. Walmart items are the same price as in store. As much as I don’t like Walmart, I use it probably once a month. My husband and I work odd hours and with 3 kids and only 1 car, it’s not always easy to get groceries. We use Shipt still, also probably once a month, and Instacart for Aldi.
