Reader Sara Bought a Cricut, And Now She’s Selling Her Craft Projects
When considering a big ticket item, a lot of evaluation goes into the purchase. Hip2Save reader Sara had been considering getting herself a Cricut Explore Air 2, but she finally added it to her cart – and it’s already paid off big time for her and her family.
I decided to take the plunge and buy a Cricut Air 2 to make items for me and my family that normally we would purchase. I also wanted it to be able to make extra income and gifts for others for birthdays, Christmas, and other holidays.
It also has been so much fun! I find items at Dollar Tree, source repurposed wood, or use items we already have to give a new spin on them.
Pursuing a hobby she loves that saves AND makes her money? We call that a win!
Sara’s Cricut purchase was an investment, but it’s given her a fun, creative outlet actually saving her money on buying clothes and gifts while also allowing her to sell her creations for profit too!
Thank you, Sara, for sharing your purchase and Cricut project ideas. 😊

These custom Disney outfits were also made with a Cricut!
Wtg! I love it when someone appreciates your craft/hobby. I love to bake and now bake on special orders. I have a 60 count cupcake order coming up next weekend. Congrats!!
Congrats Sara! It’s so much fun to make extra money doing something you love and to have others appreciate your work and talent! A Cricut is definitely an investment but like Sara, mine paid for itself at my first craft show!
Congrats! I have a Cricut I am just learning to use. Any suggestions for free downloads for beginners? It will be for personal use. Thanks!
Cant recommend any off hand but…i highly suggest using Pinterest for ideas. The outrageous imagination and craft abilities of the posters is insane. I dont craft but i could get lost for a full day perusing that app LOL. I have seen things in relation to friends and families crafts and passed on some pins. They then have created even more creative things ! Good luck with your new hobby !
Awesome job Sara. You go girl ! ✋
Join the official Facebook group. They’ll have tons of ideas, free files, and you can ask for help. As far as pictures, I just google save images and turn them into svg through design space. (Super easy!)
I just recommend watching YouTube videos that helped me so much
At what price point should I consider buying one?
Great job Sara! I loved reading about your Cricut success. ❤️ It’s my favorite craft tool too.
does anybody know deal Cricut. I would love to buy one
Stalk the cricut website for starts, I purchased mine through HSN, there was a 15% off coupon off your first order. I saved 60$ going that route. Other places are Joann’s and ac Moore, the lowest price I’ve seen is 350$ for the maker model That’s the one I have and highly recommend. You can’t use coupons for cricut at those stores, even on accessories. You have to wait for sales.
I love hearing about your success! I have contemplated the same thing only I have an idea that involves cutting medium density felt. If anyone has a preference for what model/version is best for felt, I would love to hear it!
Sara congrats on learning how to use and sell items using your cricut air! I have one that’s sitting in my sewing room cause I don’t know where to start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Things like how did you figure out how to use it, starting different projects etc. My husband would like it also😁 Thanks for any information!!
A wedding I went to had our names cut out of wood–can the Cricut Explore Air 2 do that?
Yes it can cut thin layers of wood.
