The premium ALDI brand, Earth Grown, is guaranteed to be totally free from animal products or substances produced by animals making every item Vegan. That means you won’t find meats, eggs, dairy, honey, gelatin and/or lanolin in any of these products.

Plus, these products are all fairly affordable when compared to vegan food items sold at other grocery stores!

Vegan Food from ALDI on tray on home kitchen counter

Hip2Save Sidekick, Jami, is our resident vegan expert, so we asked her to grab a few of these ALDI Earth Grown vegan goodies for a taste test. Overall, the options were pretty good, but there are a few products that were definite winners:

My husband is vegan and felt like the burgers were fairly decent especially because they are organic. On the other hand, I did not care for the texture or flavor so much. We all loved the vegan meatless meatballs as well as the vegan and gluten free potstickers. The ice cream was pretty good as well.

Keep in mind that some of these items are limited time special buys so you may want to try them soon if interested!

Your thoughts on the sour cream!?! Please say it’s good 😂

    • Erin

The sour cream is great! It melts nicely. My lactose intolerant husband could not tell the difference from regular sour cream when it was smeared on a bagel. I have tried tofutti and this is way better.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! We asked Hip Sidekick Jami her thoughts on the sour cream and she said –
“It reminds me more of a cream cheese and less like sour cream. It is missing a bit of the sour flavor and has a thicker consistency.”

      Hope that helps!

  2. Mary

Tried Earth Grown Vegan burgers, but we like MorningStar Farms variety of veggie burgers better. MorningStar’s Black Bean Veggie Burgers is our favorite. Boxes of 12 go on sale at Costco from time to time and you can’t beat the price. In second place is MorningStar Farms Veggie Classics Frozen Buffalo Wings.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful review, Mary! Good to know what you have liked best!

    • Jamie

We are both vegetarians/vegans and my husband has IBS so he doesn’t like super salty/flavored products. He loves the new Beyond Meat burgers. Expensive at $5.98 for a 2 pack but he loves them more than any other kind. I’m content with morningstar on sale 😀

      • Kitty

Oh cool I just bought those and excited to try!

      • Sandy

My husband who used to live on eating hamburgers loves the Beyond Meat burgers too and I like that he is not eating animals 🙂

  3. Sandy

Thanks for the vegetarian post! Hope thery keep coming!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You bet! You’re welcome, Sandy!

      • Amy Rasta Noel

I eat ITAL diet and love to shop at Aldi. I have tried some of these products and have been happy with them. I just have to watch the labels because ITAL eat no salt as well.

  4. Lacey

I can’t say that I have tried the entire line of products. But I will say that my family loves the meatless meatballs. And we didn’t care for the ice cream at all! There are much better options out there.

  5. Cassandra T White

Thank you for this post. I am lactose intolerant and a Pescatarian. I didn’t know that Aldi had such a variety of Vegan/Vegetarian food.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You are SO very welcome!

  6. Andrea

My husband and I love the meatballs. I saute them the add spaghetti sauce and put them on hoagie rolls and broil with provolone cheese!

    • Tia in FL

They are an amazing substitute for real meat! My husband is a vegetarian but I am not, however I eat these all the time. We tried the meatless crumbles for tacos last night but I didn’t like them. The texture was comparable to ground beef but not the taste at all.

  7. SLS

Those veggie potstickers are delicious! They do stick to all pans if you try to fry them, though – even with oil and non-stick surfaces.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful comment! I plan on grabbing those on my next shopping trip!

  8. Lucinda

Vegan household her too, due to lactose intolerance children + my own distaste for meat. We tried the Aldi frozen patties (lentil ones and the imitation chicken) and didn’t care for either. We found the parties to be far too greasy. The imitation chicken was not as flavorfully or well breaded as the Morningstar farms version. Also, I was very disappointed (grossed out) that the chicken ones were not individually wrapped – they are just naked patties tossed into a cardboard box. I don’t recall if the lentil patties were individually wrapped or not.
    I’ll stick with Morningstar.

  9. Melissa

I love buying the vegan products from aldi. It’s great there are more options out there!

  10. Ann

The buffalo “chicken” patties are good. Just tried the plant based meatless burgers, they weren’t bad, I prefer the beyond burger patties but for the price these are decent.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, Ann!

  11. Jill

    The “meatballs” are delicious

  12. Courtney

CUTE cheap backpacks at Aldi! $9.99 I think

  13. Amy

Aldi has Beyond Burgers in store this week – $4.49 for an 8oz package, (2 x 4oz burgers). This is a great price compared to other stores.

    • Brian

      That is a great deal!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Nice find, Amy! Thanks for the heads up!

  14. Jamie

We heavily rely on Aldi’s selection of produce and vegan options. We like Aldi’s original soymilk better than any other brand (can’t beat the price either) and those vegan meatballs have become a staple in our freezer! Right now Aldi is selling boxes of that brand of burgers for $4.49 for FOUR patties. Haven’t tried them yet but given our past with the brand, I have high hopes

  15. suzy

Their meatless hotdogs were not good at all. Stick to the morningstar ones!
The meatless meatballs are good, and the veggie burgers were good too.

  16. Sarah

They have vegan shredded mozzarella cheese that’s way less expensive and tastes great. I belong to weight watchers and the Aldi’s vegan pot stickers are everybody’s jam because their nutrition info and taste. I love their Earthgrown Quinoa Crunch burgers as well.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

YUM! Thanks for the recommendations, Sarah!

    • Kristie Speakman

… I am not so thy thrilled with the vegan cheese. I love Parmela creamery nut cheese. Omg, the shredded pepperjack is amazing and it melts well. The Aldi vegan cheese has such a weird slimy texture when melted that I just can’t stomach it.

  17. elisabeth

those there stiff have soy in

  18. Amberd68

Thanks so much for this post! We like the vegan meatballs, but I need to keep my eyes out for the potstickers…they sound delicious! My non-veggie husband loves the Beyond Meat burgers, (especially right off the grill), so thanks for the tip above!! 🥬🌽🥦🌶🥒🥑

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re so welcome! Hope you enjoy the Potstickers too!

  19. Laura

I’m just over here feeling jealous of those of you whose husbands are vegetarian/vegan. I wish mine would be a little more health conscious/earth friendly 🤷‍♀️

  20. amanda

We aren’t vegetarian, but use the meatless meatballs and crumbles regularly as meat substitutes and while they aren’t a 100% sub for beef, they’re actually pretty good. I also picked up the mushroom risotto burgers and they are delish! Not a fan of the lentil burgers.

  21. Beverly

I’m vegan and my tastes are such that I don’t want imitation meat such as the impossible burger, plus I studiously avoid foods with soy protein isolate. I really like the taste of Aldi’s (frozen) Asian burger. I passed over their potstickers when I saw them because I really like Trader Joe’s (frozen) vegetable gyoza and Aldi’s potstickers seemed to be a more expensive version of the gyozas. My store only had a vanilla flavored vegan “ice cream”, mocha fudge sounds delicious! Perhaps not all of these items shown on Hip2Save are in all Aldi’s stores? I don’t recall seeing vegan sour cream or shredded cheese, though I have seen vegan cream cheese in the store.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That’s correct. Inventory can vary by store. Hoping you see the vegan sour cream and cheese in your store soon!

    • Shawnna

      Thanks for sharing.

    • mardain

I have seen the shreds. They are the same price as Trader Joe’s here in Michigan. I haven’t found the cream cheese or sour cream, but Trader Joe’s has cream cheese and it’s good, better than tofuetta for me, but Daiya is the closets I find. However, it’s $2 more here.

  22. Connie

My husband and I are both Vegans and I’m so glad to see posts like this!! I go to Aldis for there fresh produce Some organic and the prices are good!! 👍🏼

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

So glad you enjoyed this post, Connie!

  23. Amy

    I love the ice cream!

  24. Heather

What brands have the least strong smell of onions/garlic? I tried the Beyond Burger and the scent was fine but then I bit in and felt the onion texture and garlic taste. I was so excited because it didn’t have soy- there is a soy allergy in my home, but the flavor was very oniony and the hint of smoke (to taste grilled) was a bit unwelcome.

    • mardain

Ooh that’s a bit hard to find. I would recommend the Hilary’s. They’re plant based, plus allergen friendly, so no soy. I had the Adzuki bean and I didn’t find it heavy on onion, nor garlic. There is also Qrunch. Definitely didn’t taste super oniony or garlicy to me. They are breaded with quinoa and I not a fan of quinoa, but they weren’t bad, considering. They are also plant based, soy free, and gluten free. My favorite veggie burgers are Dr Praeger’s. They pair great with rice. Some of those are heavy on onion though.

  25. Kristie Speakman

I am vegan and I am crazy for the meatless balls and the chipotle bean burgers (just had one for dinner tonight!) but whoever recommended the beyond meat burgers, you are dead on the money. The beyond meat burgers are awesome. Just a heads up, Dollar Tree has decent meatless balls but DON’T try the burgers, they are all veggie with loads of turmeric. They don’t taste like burgers, more like curry. I’m not a fan.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for giving us feedback on this, Kristie Speakman! We sure appreciate it!

    • mardain

Yes, they have some plant based Indian style patties, tator tots, and meatlessballs. The meatlessballs are hit and miss. I had some taste amazing and some taste like nothing but onions. The patties are good, but too spicy for me. The tator tots are surprisingly great! All of these have turmeric and various Indian spices. I add turmeric to my tofu scramble since it’s pretty healthy, tastes good in moderation, and gives the tofu a yellow color, so it doesn’t look bland.

  26. Roberta Irwin

Couldn’t find the potstickers or meatless meatballs in Houston store

  27. Bebechen72

My sister and brother-in-law who have become Vegan, suggested the veggie burgers to me. I love both the regular and kale veggie burgers! They are delicious! I was very impressed with them. I’m not surprised though that they are excellent quality, considering that Aldi is a German company. I have been to Germany for many years now and always shop at Aldi there. The food is always excellent! Two thumbs up to a great company!

  28. Beth

i love the vegetable potstickers, but you cant hardly ever find them. Why dont you have gluten free vegan things like that more often

  29. mardain

I haven’t tried the potstickers. They seem a little pricey. I get some at Trader Joe’s or just go to an Asian Market. Those meatlessballs are the best ones I have had (I’ve had Gardein, 365, and more). I bake them in the oven to get them crispy and then cook then in pasta sauce or whatever sauce I am using. They’re also great to bake and slowly coat them with a sauce of choosing. I also bake them, but not too crispy and then crumble them onto homemade pizza. They have that Italian sausage seasoning flavor. Trader Joe’s has great plant based cheese for the price, but Aldi’s is close. I have, sadly, not seen the plant based sour cream yet.
