Return Amazon Orders for FREE at Kohl’s | They’ll Pack, Label AND Ship Items For Free
Return Amazon items for free at Kohl’s – no box or label needed!
You can now return your Amazon order(s) free of charge at any Kohl’s brick-and-mortar store (excluding Anchorage, Alaska) regardless of the return reason!
Even better, Kohl’s will pack and box the item(s) that are needing to be returned for FREE!
Want more information? You can read Kohl’s initial announcement here.
How does this program work? It’s surprisingly easy…
- Begin your return with Amazon’s Online Return Center.
- Select your Kohl’s Dropoff option.
- Amazon will email you a QR code.
- Bring the item(s) you are returning to a participating Kohl’s store and show the QR code on your smartphone to a Kohl’s associate.
- Kohl’s will then pack, label, and ship your return for free!
Several shoppers have even reported receiving Kohl’s coupons after making their Amazon returns. In fact, one of our sidekicks recently scored a $10 off $25 Kohl’s coupon after making her return.
You may be asking… but doesn’t Amazon always offer free returns? Yes, eligible products can be returned to Amazon using a trackable shipping method (including an option where you drop off your return at an authorized UPS location of your choice). However, if you live near a Kohl’s store, this may be a nicer and more convenient option for you!
Check out comments from readers who have already used this service:
“It’s nothing like a return at Kohl’s! Hand them the item, show them a QR code on your phone (or print it) and that’s it. They print you a return receipt and as a bonus, it has a 25% off your Kohl’s purchase coupon for that day in-store. My Kohl’s I frequent even has a separate counter for this, right next to the entrance. Usually a couple minutes wait in line, tops, and less than a minute to process the return.”
“We have used this multiple times already and it truly is so easy, fast and convenient!! It has definitely factored into our buying decisions. My husband bought 3 pairs of shoes since he wasn’t sure which would fit the best. Kept his favorite and took the other two pairs to Kohl’s. He was in and out in minutes!”
My husband has used this service several times and it has worked well for him. An added benefit is that they also give you a percent off coupon for Kohls. If I remember right it was 20 % off.
I did this for the first time last week. It was a very easy process, they have a kiosk set up right next to customer service. And, you get a 25% off coupon to use that day if you need to do some shopping.
SWEET! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us, Holly! Glad to hear how easy it was!
This is great! I just moved from a place where there was a UPS Store very nearby to a place without any close shipping options, but there is a Kohls right up the road. So Yay!!
That’s what I was going to say—same service at UPS—super easy. And then I’m not tempted to shop. Packaging products don’t do much for me 😂
Love the convenience of this, sometimes the packaging gets damaged or ripped in my excitement of opening the package. It’s so much easier to have them package it for me, and I like the coupons they give.
SAME! It’s so easy!
We did this last weekend and it was super easy! You didn’t even need the box it came in. They gave us a 25% off your entire purchase at Kohl’s that didn’t expire for about a week.
How cool! Thanks for the feedback, Natalie!
Not all product are used for 25% off
Here in Topeka the Kohl’s said you only had that option for kohl’s if you live within 7 miles of it. They said it was an amazon policy
Oh interesting. Thanks for sharing, Allison. I’m wondering if that may vary by location. I don’t find that limitation listed.
Also, not all items are eligible- it had to be fulfilled by Amazon and under – I think 40lbs. Super easy and I love going to my Kohls!
Is this just for Amazon purchases or third party sellers as well.
It just says eligible Amazon.com purchases. I recently did a Kohl’s/Amazon return for a product sold by a 3rd party seller, but fulfilled by Amazon. I don’t have a really good answer for you, J.H.509!
I have been rejected before…had to take to a UPS facility.
Has to be fulfilled by Amazon
This is great! I also love that they do it for UPS too. I hated how I would need to find a box if I accidentally threw mine away. Also, sometimes amazon required separate boxes per item! I just did this process at UPS last weekend and it was so easy!
For those that have done this, do you have to stand there and watch as your item is being re-packaged before you can get a receipt and walk away?
I did not have to wait. They give you a receipt right away. They had a large pile of returns so I felt a little concerned just walking away, but my refund came that same day.
Understood, thank you. I live in Florida in a predominately retiree area and customer service lines can be excruciating here at times.
More options are always better. But I’ll continue to use my UPS store which is locally owned and operated.
Any idea how they decide what location to offer you? Because I only ever get offers to return at the UPS Store with a code, not at Kohls. The UPS store is closer to my house, but Kohls is more convenient due to the extended hours. But I NEVER get the option to return at Kohl’s, only at the UPS Store.
In case anyone ever reads this, I figured it out. It’s based on the “ship from” address that you select on the returns page and it’s an easy link/setting to miss. So, I changed my ship from address to my work address and got the option to return at Kohls and it worked.
I did this today for the first time. So simple and easy with the QR code on my phone. Got a 25% coupon for use within the next 7 days, which is really great since its tax free week in my state this weekend! Win, win!
Woo hoo! Great score with tax-free weekend coming up, Kristen!
Hi Kristen
Can you please tell if that coupon can be applied on online purchases or is it just for in store purchases
Thanks
What is considered an “eligible” Amazon.com purchase? I can’t find that anywhere?
Good question. I’m not seeing any further details. You could always call in to your location to be sure. Hope that helps!
Those that prefer UPS like me may br in trouble. I went through the return process online last night (Wednesday) and the only free option was Kohl’s. The UPS drop off or pick up options were 88 cents. Ot was worth paying for me but I suspect they’ll hike the price over time .
Wow! I returned 3 different purchases last week and still had those options free. I really hope that isn’t going to be permanent.
I have been trying to do a return to Kohls with no success. Kohl’s is not listed as an option in the Amazon Return Center. I initiated a chat that did not help at all. The rep had no idea what a Kohl’s return was. Offered to have UPS pick it up, but I turned this down as I was pretty sure I would be charged for it. Anyone else had this problem?
Darn! I’m wondering if it may vary by store. Were you able to speak with customer service?
This is kind of deceptive. I tried to return something to Amazon at kohl’s and they said it was up to Amazon whether it was allowed to accept the return. If Amazon doesn’t list Kohl’s as an option then you have to take it to UPS. This was annoying since it wasn’t explained anywhere.
I have been receiving emails from Amazon encouraging me to use Kohl’s for returns🙄
Kohl’s told me you had to be within 8 miles of a Kohl’s, per Amazon rules. They told me if you weren’t within 8 miles, Kohl’s would not show up as a return option online.
this is true! i just confirmed with Amazon…crazy
Does anyone know if it’s not listed as an option when you’re submitting the return on your amazon account, does that mean your local Kohl’s won’t take it? My listed options are just UPS drop off or UPS pickup.
For me, it was listed as an option. I had more than one store, so I needed to select the location. Hope this helps, MeggZimm!
Kohls won’t be able to take the return without you initiating the process through your Amazon account. The qr code issued is what allows them to accept and process the return on eligible items. If the item is eligible and you have a location nearby the option will show in your Amazon account. If you don’t have a qr code and decide you want to leave the item anyway kohls will not process the return because there is no way for them to do so and you won’t be refunded and kohls is not responsible for any merchandise just left at the store by a customer who decided to do so. Think of it as an Amazon dropbox. It may not be for everyone but can be convenient to a lot of people because of the extended store hours.
Same here.
I would have had to pay $6 to go next door to my house to UPS Store. Instead, I had to drive 6 miles to Kohls…. where the Amazon scanners were down. We waited inline 10 minutes before leaving. I did a live chat with Amazon and they handled it but it’s ridiculous. I get they have an agreement with Kohl’s but it was not at all convenient. I was irritated. If it happens again, they will def hear from me.
Sorry it wasn’t convenient for you. Sometimes things happen that the workers can’t control. It’s probably frustrating for them too, pretty sure they didn’t decide for it to happen because they didn’t feel like doing your return. You can always see if they’ll pick up at your house or use a return box if it’ll fit and you have one close to you.
See to me this all defeats the purpose of online shopping. You shouldn’t have to go in a brick n motor store to process a return. Pack it up, drop it off, done. Ughh. I have not seen Kohls pop up for me, but now that I read these comments I’m pretty sure we are outside their radius.
I did this and loved it! It was super convenient for me!
Yay! Good to know it was a smooth process for you, Bethany!
This option wasn’t available to me when I just tried to return an Amazon item. I live in Fayetteville, NC. Didnt even give me a Kohls option.
Are these returns only for items that are eligible for free returns or the “paid” returns also qualify? E.i. If I bought a toy and I changed my mind but I have to pay return shipping, would I qualify for free return at Kohl’s? I wouldn’t like it if it’s only for items that are free to return regardless of the method you chose.
I did this last week and the experience was fantastic! They also gave me a 25% Kohl’s coupon as a promotion!
Dropping off at Kohl’s is nice it’s closer than UPS to me. However don’t get excited about the 25%Off coupon they give you. You can’t use it for any name brand items so nothing I tried to purchase was eligible for the coupon. Seems ridiculous.
