Can this be played on the tv or no? To me it looks just like a DS
You can put it in TV mode which allows you to play while the game or application is displayed on your TV screen.
Suzanne, really? i thought I read that you CAN’T play them on the tv.
Nope. It is strictly for “on the go” gaming. No output to tv. You can link up and play others that have a switch for lock multi player gaming. But no output to tv. Plays all the switch games
You can check out the Nintendo specs website for a side by side comparison.

Does this run off of wi-fi? So won’t work in the car per se for Fornite, etc.
Website says: Nintendo Switch Lite can play the games in the Nintendo Switch library that support handheld mode.
For games that do not support handheld mode, players can wirelessly connect compatible controllers (sold separately) to Nintendo Switch Lite. If using separate Joy-Con controllers, users will need to have a device to recharge them, such as the Joy-Con Charging Grip.
To find play mode compatibility information for specific games, please refer to the product packaging or Nintendo eShop
Isn’t the switch already an on-the-go system. What are they trying to sell here?
Hi there! From reader through the details, It seems that this version is lighter, more compact and easy to carry. Hope that helps!
$100 cheaper than the older one too. I’m hoping the older version decreases in price now.
I’m excited for this! Now I get one all to myself. Haha! 🙂
