Disney movie on iPad

Disney recently announced plans to offer a new bundle of streaming services at the surprisingly low price of $12.99 per month. With combined pricing for Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu, the bundle is set to include family programming, live sports, and an extensive library of TV shows.

Scheduled to launch in November, this service is expected to be a challenge for competitors like Netflix and HBO Max (slated to launch in the spring of 2020).

Netflix on tablet

Disney is matching Netflix’s standard plan and offering its bundled service at $3 less than its competitor’s premium version, which allows subscribers and their family members to watch on up to four devices at a time. It should be noted though, that two of the Disney services (ESPN+ and Hulu) have advertising, while Netflix is commercial-free.

Commercials aside, Disney’s powerful exclusive content (like its own original movies and those from Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars) along with its low monthly rate will make it a tough competitor.

Let the streaming price wars begin! Your move, Netflix. 🍿

    I’m in 🙋🏻‍♀️ Can’t wait 😬

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      Yay!

  2. L

Netflix for me. I buy all the DVDs with digital downloads from Disney that I like on Black Friday’s so no need to stream.

  3. Cristine

Not looking forward to this personally. Wondering how this will effect the marvel Netflix originals…

    • Jenny

They were all cancelled. I believe they will be allowed to remain on Netflix but I’m planing on picking up DVD copies of Daredevil.

      • Cristine

I’m so sad! Too many cliffhangers!! I really like most of them. On the third session of Daredevil now.

      • Alli

I’m so mad about The Punisher. It was awesome and Disney killed it.

  4. Amy

Anyone know what is exactly included in espn plus?

    • Beth

We’re trying it out now, and it is not worth it. All of the good games are blacked out and it is just old re-runs of games. I hope in the future they make it more like the ESPN cable network.

      • AW

There is no football now. Hopefully it will get better when college is back.

  5. Becky

    I’ll be sticking with Netflix!

  6. Elizabeth With An S

    Will this be commercial free?

  7. Angela

Does anyone know if they will be offering just the Disney option? I already have Hulu and don’t need espn.

    • Vanessa

It will probably still be cheaper to pay for the bundle than to pay for a Disney only option (if they offer it) and Hulu separately. I’m excited for this, will probably switch from Netflix!

    • Taylor S

They will offer a Disney only option for cheaper.

    • Kathleen

I pay for the ad free Hulu so this bundle wouldn’t benefit me anyway.

    • Dillon

“If purchased separately, Disney+ costs $6.99 per month, Hulu costs $5.99 per month and ESPN+ costs $4.99 per month — that’s $17.97 total. “

      • Tiffany

Not if you pay $0.99 for Hulu 😜

  8. Al

I’ve been waiting for this, totally worth it even without the extras for me!

  9. Olga

I’ll definitely be subscribing but most likely only the Disney. I don’t watch Hulu or ESPN.

  10. Beth

I wish the bundle had an option for commercial free Hulu. We pay extra because we HATE commercials.

    • Rebecca

Same! Can’t handle them on Hulu, will gladly pay more!

  11. jessawyer

I’m all in for this! I’ve had a Hulu subscription for years and years now and love it. Now adding Disney to the mix! Can’t wait!

  12. Sandra

Cut the cord a few weeks ago, took out Philo for the streaming of live channels that I liked, I can say this I will never give direct another $110.00 dollars a month again!

    • Dasey

What is philo? Do you pay for it?

      • Sandra

Yes Philo is 20.00 a month, it has a free 7 day trial. I love it, can cancel anytime no contract!

    • Laura

I love Philo. I watch it more than anything else.

  13. Pinkopener

I wonder how this will affect those who have the spotify premium/hulu bundle

  14. kharrington

With all the stunts Disney had been pulling lately that are so anti-family I know thousands of people have nixed Disney all together. I doubt disney will be any match for Netflix.

    • Will

      HA

  15. Shannon

$12.99 now but watch they will do price increases every 6 months until no one can afford it just like Disney world!

    • LuvtoSave

      ^^ RIGHT!!

  16. Natalie

I can’t wait! Will definitely be cancelling Netflix and signing up for this the day it comes out. I’m excited!

  17. Crystal

It’s cheap now, but how long until they start the price hikes? Once all the networks have their own streaming services it’s going to cost a fortune!

  18. Crystal

Awesome!! Been waiting for Disney to offer this!!

  19. Bryant

I’m in!!! Never had Netflix and never cared about it. This is a game-changer with the bundle and the lower price. Also, I’m used to commercials so I could care less if a service isn’t ad-free. The commercials allow me to go to the bathroom, grab a snack, check my phone, etc. I love commercials. lol

  20. Nita

Disney is a price gouging monster. It’s become so that the average person can’t go to Disney without worrying about the cost. Just yet another revenue stream for them.

  21. Bebe

I’m sticking with Netflix. I hate ads and will not pay more just to not have ads.

  22. Julie

Were waiting for this to come out so we can pull the cord on our cable. We will likely still keep Netflix too but lately their content hasn’t been amazing with new stuff, so we will see. If Netflix keeps raising their prices—we will cancel them for sure.

  23. Mike

People think they are competitors but they are not. Both offer different shows and movies. They more compliment each other. I don’t see people canceling Netflix to get Disney+. They target different audiences. The media tries to make it look like they are competitors but they are not.
