Select dolls are $45 at the local fisher price store in east aurora ny!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Nice find! Thanks for sharing with us!

    • Hillary Miller

Do you know if that’s the consistent price? I am in Rochester and make a yearly trip to the FP store. Thanks!

  2. AMH

Jo-ann fabrics has similar sized dolls. There’s also clothes for $12.99 each

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks a bunch for the heads up! We’ll be sure to keep a lookout for those!

I don’t get it. Can anyone tell me what is so special about these dolls to justify almost $100?

    • Erin

I think that the quality is supposed to be really high with the way the hair is rooted, washability, longevity, and I think there are guarantees on the dolls…

    • Beth

They are very high quality. I can’t justify the prices for the accessories or clothes, but for the doll itself I feel that it’s very worth it.

Regardless of quality, I do think that part of it is simple prestige. There are plenty of high quality dolls out there. But, it’s also a symbol. And, agree with the other poster – the accessories are ridiculous in price. I’d say if you have kids that are VERY careful with their dolls, maybe it’s worth it. My girls are too young and even with the doll being high quality, hair can get knotted and frizzy, they aren’t immune from stains and rips, etc. I’m better off buying a knock off from Target.

I don’t think these are worth the price but my kids aren’t that careful and I’ve picked up two AG dolls at garage sales and they have lasted! One is pretty old too so it’s lasted another girl before me. My daughter loves to go to the AG store and get the salon treatment for the doll. I have been really lucky and scored some genuine American Girl doll accessories at a fraction of the price. Target makes a good one IMO. However, my daughter enjoys the AG doll most bc her cousins have it.

If your kids are too young for a full sized doll get the bitty baby. My daughters have them and they hold up like iron. I also found one at a yard sale for $1. They also have wellie wisher dolls, which are $60. I think they offer free shipping on the wellie wisher dolls. They have a hard body, not cloth like the others. And they are shorter.

    • Shannon

I bought my daughter bitty baby when she was 1 and six years later the doll still looks great and she still plays with it. I’m excited to see what Costco American girl things will be there for Christmas!

I still have my AG doll from when I was a kid over 20 years ago. They have a doll hospital that you can send them to if anything happens to them. I loved my doll and always saved up money to buy her new clothes. But back then they didn’t have as many knock off dolls and clothes like they do now.

    • Jen

Same, my dolls are 25+ yrs old. Saving them and all their accessories for my little girl 🙂 My dolls are still in great shape after years of play!

      • Amy Kuhr

Same! My 5-year-old recently inherited my over 30-year-old Addy doll and accessories, as well as my cousin’s Kirsten doll and accessories. They are in amazing shape and she was so excited to finally get a big American Girl Doll (we bought her one of the minis last year for $7 from a hip2save deal and told her she had to show us she could take care of it before getting a big version.)

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO cool that you still have yours! Thanks for taking the time to comment, Lindsey!

    • Ashley

Same here. I have my dolls from the early 90s and now my 7 year old daughter is enjoying them. While I don’t think the current quality is quite the same as when they were still Pleasant Company, they are still excellent quality and worth the investment.

I have been collecting for awhile and hope to pass it all on to my DD. If she doesn’t want it, she can sell it for money or I would donate it to some cause for children.

  6. Christina

These are worth it. They just have high quality hair and parts. My daughters bought many dolls with birthday and Christmas money. We also lived near the only outlet in Oshkosh which has since closed. But after years of play they sold everything and recouped most of their money. It’s something you can enjoy and they retain value.

    • Mom23

Totally agree!! I can tell a huge difference in quality, my daughter has several knock offs and none of them have he’d up as well for my soon to be 6 year old.

My daughter sold her American Girl dolls (except she kept one) and got Gotz dolls. She loves Gotz Hannah doll the most out of all her dolls. She is the most realistic out of all her dolls (she has almost every doll out there). The quality seems much higher on Gotz dolls & they fit knock off brands clothing like Targets. You can even wash, blow dry, and curl Gotz dolls hair. The price is comparable to AG. Gotz Happy Kidz collection has bendable/posable arms and legs. But Gotz Hannah is assymetric which makes her look so real & unique.

  8. Neli

They look creepy to me. 🤪
