Target is hiring for the holidays!

If you’ve ever felt like you spend so much time at Target that they should just put you on the payroll, now is the time to get your foot in the door! With the holiday shopping season quickly approaching, Target is planning to hire more than 130,000 employees to fill seasonal positions!

Target expects to hire 125,000 seasonal team members across its 1,800 stores nationwide, with all positions starting at $13 an hour or more. The company is also planning to hire about 8,000 seasonal team members at its 39 distribution and fulfillment centers across the country.

In addition to Target’s competitive wages, all hourly team members (including seasonal hires) enjoy a range of benefits, like a 10% discount, 20% discount on select wellness products, holiday pay, and flexible scheduling.

Here’s what Melissa Kremer, chief human resources officer had to say:

“We’re so excited to start welcoming our new seasonal hires, and give them opportunities to train and prepare with the rest of our team as we head into the busy holiday season. Getting an early start with those preparations made a big difference for us last year, and it’s a great way to get the entire Target team pumped up for the most fun and exciting time of the year.”

If you’re interested in applying for a seasonal position at Target, visit the Target Careers page to view the available positions and to begin the application process. You can also stop by your local store or distribution center in the next couple of weeks to apply in person.

All Target stores will also be holding seasonal hiring events on October 11-13. Candidates can stop in at any store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time to meet with store leaders and to interview on the spot. Those interested in learning more about a distribution role are encouraged to reach out to their local distribution center with questions.

How old does my teen need to be there to work there? Very hard finding places that will hire at 15 year olds. While Seattle does not honor some of the nationwide places that say you may start at 14 years old- most are 16 or 18 years old. Any suggestions are most welcome. 🙂 The previous post about hiring at younger ages didn;t seem to apply to the Seattle area as my teens called them all 🙁

Try a dishwasher or host at a local restaurant. We hire at 15 here in VA

Darn! I’m sorry to hear that. In Oklahoma, our teens can work at 14 with a work permit from school. My 14-year-old works at Braum’s (ice cream/burgers).

Best ice cream in the world. As a Texas gal I’m supposed to love Blue Bell most but Braum’s blows them out of the water. I might have to go pick up some strawberry ice cream now.

I do love a good Blue Bell ice cream, too! At Braum’s, I like the blue cookie monster one with Oreos and cookie dough! It’s hard to stop eating it if we bring home the quarts! Thanks for sharing, Jamie!

Oh my! We loved Braum’s when we moved our daughter into UD ( University of Dallas)

Maybe your teen could apply at a grocery store to bag groceries. I started work 3 weeks after turning 14 as a bag girl. At age 16, I moved up to cashier, and at 17 I was assistant office manager. No matter what age, hard work and persistence pays off!!

I have the same question. I have a feeling they only hire 16+. Grocery stores and fast food seem to a popular option for 15 yr olds. Also try local YMCA or library or movie theatre.

I am pretty sure you posted this last year? Wanted to say thank you!! I have never had a job, and as a 32-year-old mom with no experience, its been hard finding a job and they hired me on the spot, going on 11 months and love it. They will be bumping pay up to $15 by the end of next year for all employees which is double my local minimum wage. It is a really great job. The only caveats are even if you are full time and permanent employee after seasonal is over, there are NO BENEFITS until the 1-year mark (unless local jurisdictions have other requirements for all employers ). Just was something I wasn’t expecting.

You are welcome! So glad you got hired on, Sarah! You are getting really close to that one-year mark!

I plan to apply but am nervous cause I’ve been out of work 21 yrs and am now 54 due to taking care of my girls. Does Target do one on one interview? I applied last year at Kohl’s and was not prepared for a group interview. Had I known it I would not have gone. I was so nervous I came home crying.

In New York they do it in the front section of the store. One on one but in between clothes lol..

That is great to hear! I was beginning to wonder if they were prejudice against hiring older people everywhere or just my local store lol
Our store is all kids and maybe a few in their 20’s!
I applied as a 34 year old mother of two with a college degree and 8 years of merchandising experience and have had several call backs but never an in person interview?
