New to hit the shelves of Costco this week is Kalea’s Brewer’s Advent Calendar, which contains 24 full-size cans of unique German beer!

All the different beers come from privately-owned German breweries and include varieties such as Pils, Helles, Pale Ale, Pale and Dark Weizen, German Stout, Bock, and Weizenbock.

While the price of $59.99 might seem a bit high for 24 cans of beer, we’re not talking about a case of Bud Light here (no offense to the King of Beers)! Kalea’s Brewer’s Advent Calendar contains 24 different beers, specially curated to showcase exclusive, small-craft brewers whose beers aren’t widely available or easy to find in the U.S.

This Advent calendar would make an awesome gift for the beer enthusiast in your life who enjoys sampling unique flavors from craft brewers. Want to get your hands on one? Thanks for indicating ‘full-size’ cans up top. The last picture makes them look tiny.

You are so welcome, Adam! I’m glad it helped!

Any idea if these are the same beers as last years box? My husband loved this but I’m not sure it’s worth the $60 if it’s the same ones he already tried!

I follow their Facebook page and someone asked them that question. Here is their response: “there will be 12 new beers. Thanks to all the ratings we have received, we have kicked out the bad ones and replaces them by the new ones. The populars from the last year will be repeated.”

      • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for looking that up, Megan B! We appreciate the information!

Do you know if these are thick German beers/ales or if they are more American in style.

      • dan

These are German varieties, so no not American style. What do you mean by “thick”? German, Belgian, and English beer is no “thicker” than American beer. I think what you are getting at is malt verse hops. American beers, regardless of the style, are over-hopped which is akin to dumping salt on something you really don’t like. British and European beers rely on flavor from the grains, etc to stand out while hops play a background role. If that makes it “thick” than yes they are thick. Otherwise these sets usually consist of lagers, dopplebocks, Helles, and maybe one or two rauchbier (smoked beers). None of these style will be over-hopped, rather dry hopped, which essentially means when you open it you will not get a rush of hops on the nose. What you will get is malty-sweetness. Most of these beers fall somewhere around the more commonly known brews of St. Paulaners; Ayinger; and Spaten. There are obvious variations, but if you don’t like those chances are you won’t like the pack.

I made my own last year after I saw the prices…lol

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

That’s a great idea and frugal, Wendy L!

  4. Barbie

I have a hard time finding one every year because they sell out so fast!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hoping you can score one this year, Barbie! 🤞

      • Barbie

        Got one!!!

I don’t have a Costco anywhere near me… anyone know where else I may be able to find one of these?

    • Barbie

Aldi’s has a one but with different beers of course;)

  6. Jennifer Doane

My boyfriend is German. I would love to get it for him but I don’t have a Costco membership.

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

If you know a Costco member, Jennifer, they can buy you a Costco Cash Card. You can shop and buy things in Costco with one of their gift cards and no membership card is needed.

  7. Dana

I bought this for my husband last year. He was really disappointed. Didn’t like even one of the beers. Total waste of money.

    • Dan

Maybe your husband has terrible taste for real beer?

  8. Aaron Lindberg

Are these available at all Costco stores?

    • Barbie

Seems like most of them carry the advent calendars. I would call ahead. Take care!

  9. Sharon Frigerio

Will they be available in new jersey?

    • Barbie

Not sure. You might want to call the store! In Sun Prairie WI, they sold out in a day

  10. Kam

Do they have a quote or phrase behind every window because that could potential be an opportunity to be really funny being that this is for adults.
