Did you know that Amazon Prime shoppers can now spend less than $1 on many items and receive them the next day without incurring any shipping costs?! Awesome!

In fact, in many cases it may actually be cheaper (and much more convenient!) for Prime shoppers to order everyday items from Amazon instead of physically driving to your local Target, Walmart or drugstore.

Hip tip: Many of the items that now qualify for FREE one-day shipping also qualify for Subscribe and Save. If you can be patient and wait for your next Subscribe and Save delivery, you can save up to 15% when you order 5 qualifying items and select “Subscribe and Save” as your delivery method! Need filler items to reach the 5-item minimum? Check out these inexpensive ideas!

Check out just a few of the items that qualify for FREE one-day Amazon Prime delivery:

Wet & Wild Eyeshadow Crease Make-Up Brush
Just 75¢ delivered in one-day for Prime members!

Twin line Plackers

Plackers Twin-Line Dental Floss Picks 75-Count Pack
Just $2.16 delivered in one-day for Prime members!*
* Or choose Subscribe and Save bringing your total down to as low as $1.84 shipped!

While you may be excited about the ability to grab last-minute essentials from the comfort of home, some are concerned about what this will mean for Amazon’s brick and mortar competitors.

Retail experts are also questioning how this new policy will be sustainable for Amazon and its suppliers. When Amazon ships these small items one at a time, they will do so at a loss. And the environmental impact of this business model is also raising concerns. What do you think? Please share!

Thanks, Sheryl!

This is good for consumers when they think convenience, but so so wasteful and horrible for the environment. The amount of packaging that they use is crazy.

    • Katie’s

      I agree!!!

    • Sue

Amazon always has a truck out my way. It saves me from driving my car up to the store, and getting a plastic bag and receipt. If they are driving down my street anyway I figure it helps the environment instead of hurt it.

    • Jackie

      I agree 100% with Sue!!!!

    • Kjt240

Thank you for the reminder kcmiami88, you’re absolutely right! Some of the rude comments here are a strong indicator of how we got to this point in the first place. Even if the truck is already out, people being more thoughtful about environmental impact (and the conditions of Amazon warehouse employees for that matter), will slowly change things. Every little bit adds up.

      • Staci

Hi! My son works at Amazon, so I am only addressing the comment about the “conditions of the Amazon employees.”. My son has been there for a year and the work is no different than any other warehouse. All warehouses have certain times of the year when there is a push for production, for example, Lysol pushes their employees during cold season, and Mars pushes their employees during Halloween. We are in NJ, so I can only speak for what is happening here. My son is 19, makes $16 an hour, has a 401k, and free dental with $1000 towards orthodontics. He is also given time and a half for the bonus shifts on black Friday and the week leading up to Christmas. If that isn’t enough, he is going to trade school in January and will only pay $24 per semester with Amazon tuition perk. They also give them lunch parties and swag. They have very strict safety policies and acknowledge good employees with extra paid days off. Working in a warehouse is work, but that’s life.

Staci, wonderful to hear thanks for posting this.

Hannah, Thank you so much for the lesson about recycling and decomposing. I didn’t ask for this but I bet it will make you feel good if I reply and say Thank you 🙄. AGAIN my point, that was so lost with you and your comment, was to reinforce the fact that they post DEALS and we shouldn’t be making big deals based on how much will be recyclable or not. It’s not a big deal, recycle if you want, don’t get the deal because you will not be able to recycle the packaging do what makes you happy! I get happy when I find a great deal that will save my family money 😉😊 I will FOR SURE ENJOY MY GREAT DEAL!!!!! 🙌

      • Jackie

Sorry this reply was supposed to go to Hannah’s post 😊 not yours kcmiami88. For some weird reason it posted it here

Hi Jackie! I see you are having issues leaving comments. Can you tell me what kind of phone you are using and what software it is running?

    • nita

Totally agree. This is what they need to crack down on. Conglomerates like Amazon taking over and then hurting the environment. Was a topic of debate last night.

    • Jackie

Hi Jennifer! I think I used my iPad it’s running iOS 12 ( I am delaying the iOS update because I know there are some big issues with iOS 13. But I also believe the same thing has happened with my phone, posting and re posting and then replying to the wrong post, then having multiple replies that are identical, that one is an iPhone 11 running iOS 13.1.3. Thanks 😊

      • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks, Jackie! I’m passing along this info to the team!

      • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! As we try to further investigate this issue, we have just one more question. Were you by chance using the app? Thanks again for all of your helpful feedback! We sure appreciate it!

    • Debbie in PA

I agree too. Good lord….none of these items is a must need asap item. Just pick it up the next time you are near a store that sells it. And how free is it when you are paying $119.00/year for membership?

    • NLD

I work at amazon too and I agree it is not bad. It’s hard work sure but they pay fair and offer some benefits. I worked harder for years in a restaurant and the management was no where as positive or acknowledging of good work as in Amazon and the pay sucked. Prefer amazon any day.

    • Jackie

FYI a this Jackie is not the same as the one who was addressing you 😂🤣 there are two Jackie’s in this thread and I’m the one who cares less about people complaining about their packages and more about the deals. Now who looks silly?

  2. Chrissy

I’m generally pretty environmentally conscious so the “pick your delivery day” option with amazon is a huge bonus. Not only because they seem to use less packaging because everything can be bundled at once, but when I realize I need things throughout the week I can just add on to that delivery without adding more packaging and fuel. I also think it’s fuel conscious bc the odds that an amazon van is in your neighborhood daily anyway is pretty on point so saves your carbon footprint from driving to the store. But maybe I’m just making myself feel better with all my orders 😜

  3. Ap927

1 day shipping is awesome for an urgent need, but I never use/select it “just because”.

  4. Heather

I have a feeling all the new things Amazon has added this year Prime will go up next year because of it.

  5. Princess’Mom

I select the no-rush shipping whenever I’m not in a hurry for something because I feel like it will help keep the cost of Prime from skyrocketing. If everyone is having them overnight and 2-day these small items all the tine, they’re going to have to put the dee way up.

  6. Cheryl

I don’t know how long it would take an item to get to me if I selected the no rush shipping…I usually select the one day and it still takes three! I have never had a package actually arrive in one day.

  7. Ivan

Not really free….somebody is paying for it. Either Prime membership will go up or pricing in general will.

  8. Barbara

I think they bundle it with other orders. I just ordered something and it’s going out on the same date as 2 other items I ordered through Prime.

  9. Jackie

Oh people get over it! Yes we are all part of the go green team AND we ALL know it! This post is telling us good deals and how to score them in case we didn’t know about them! I hate when people tell me what to do and what not to do. I agree with Sue, Amazon trucks are out all the time so it saves on gas/pollution/money. Their boxes are made out of CARDBOARD, so in case that one person living under a rock didn’t know, they are recyclable and they will disintegrate with time 🙄🤦‍♀️. Please let’s keep comments to the post and what great deals we will be getting. I will be trying that aloe and avocado soap for 90 cents. Thank you, great deal 🙌👍👍

    • Hannah

Yikes, that was awefully rude. More than likey, these small items will ship in a platic envelope lined with bubble wrap. So not compostable or recycleable. Also, most things that you typically recycle, are not actually recycled. A lot is gone to waste because there is usually some sort of contamination from you, tape, other things. Recycling and composting are two tottally different things. There for “they are recyclable and they will disintegrate with time” is incorrect. Recycling is breaking it down to reuse it again (which again is more waste because of the energy and materials needed to make this process happen.) Composting is the “disintegrating” that you are talking about, and if cardboard is not disposed of properly (such as compost piles) then it does nothing but sit in a land fill and thus add to the green house gasses. If you want to choose to be apart of the problem then that is your right, and as much as i would hope this comment has helped to change your mind to see things differently i feel as though it will fall on deaf ears. So instead i will go with the age old “if you do not have anything nice to say dont say it at all.” No one was telling you what to do, just spreading information on a growing problem. Enjoy your great deal.

    • a

It’s a bit ironic you say you hate when people tell you what to do and what not to, and then end with saying what should be said in the comments. I think constuctrive criticism about excess packaging is ok to point out, and if others want to chime in about how they agree, then let them!

      • Jackie

a it IS ironic that I’m telling people to be grateful we are getting deals posted here and that’s what we should focos not the packaging🙌 you are totally right. You DEFINITELY want to complain about something right? LOL I want people to stop complaining about this little stuff and focus on the deals. This is what THIS site is for NOT complaining about how things are packaged etc. Good grief! Hence the name Hip2Save

  10. Jackie

Things I get shipped with one-day delivery always end up with a delay of a day for some reason, so it is still 2 day. But it is nice to see that not everything is an add-on these days, though that isn’t a horrible thing when you can use the pick your delivery day option. Just worried about all these drivers and how they are being paid per package or something? Their driving is down right dangerous, I’ve never seen anything like it from the post office, UPS or fed ex. Neighbors have even caught drivers relieving themselves in the yard, something about that just isn’t right.

    • shop4mybabies

yikes…sounds like youve got some really terrible drivers. they are not paid by the package, but by the hour. they do have standards and metrics to meet. my cousin does it, loves it, is respectful, and makes 20.25$ an hr

    • a

I thought you wanted to ONLY stick to the DEALS. No criticism allowed! 😀

      • a

See how silly that sounds? That just points out one of the reasons that the workers are on a time crunch trying to deliver all the 1 day packages.

  11. Tia in FL

Too many of my one-day orders don’t make it. Unfortunately, I’d rather drive to Walmart.

  12. Diane

Thanks, a lot of these items can also be added to your subscribe & save orders, so they can all ship once/month.
