I have 2 adopted daughters – one has an adopted birth mother and zero medical information. This was worth the money for the additional information. I have complete control over how they use the information. Since the girls are minors, their info is secure.
Me, my husband, father, sister and brother in law all have done this. I actually just bought one for my best friend for her birthday too! We love it and find it so interesting!

Yay! You’re so welcome, Elle! Glad you could score the savings!
Is there a time limit to send them in? If I purchase them now, will they be OK for Christmas presents?
Yes, the kit will be okay. there is not a time limit. Your box only has the vial, instructions and the code inside.

I’m aware. Worth the risk, to me. My genetic data is likely of less concern to most companies than my Internet use data which I happily agree to hand over with every opening of an app, though at least with the genetic data it may help solve a crime or be used to develop a new medication. Privacy is important, but with so many people using all of these services, an individual’s data is really not anything more than a tiny blip on the massive data graph. Though I agree it’s good to read up on.
Very well put!
As long as you are up to date on the kits terms and conditions. There is a way to scrub your data with this company specifically at least. Unfortunately unlike the information at your doctors office these datasets aren’t covered under Hippa and FDA has non existent protections for consumers.
The implications here are much far reaching & definitive than data collected on online searches, apps, websites etc. Yes, crime solving and drug research is good applications but another not so good one is using your data to raise insurance rates on people you are related to without them even knowing about it.
Well said, Arti. I’m not worried about the privacy implications so much as I don’t want my health insurance to screw me over.
Thank been wanting to do this. I ordered one.
You are welcome, Tammy!
I did this test. Very interesting. My doctor had me send it to pure genomics and it gave even more interesting info about my health.
