Trader Joe’s has issued a recall!

Trader Joe’s has announced a voluntary recall of some of its ready-to-eat sushi, salads and spring rolls that may have been contaminated with listeria. This announcement comes after the grocery chain’s supplier, Fuji Food Products, announced its own voluntary recall last week. The issue was discovered during a routine inspection of a Fuji Food facility in Brockton, Massachusetts.

“As responsible processors of safe, fresh food for nearly 30 years, we are addressing this problem vigorously and we apologize to those who are affected by it,” said Fuji Food Products CEO Farrell Hirsch. “We will restart operation only after we have eliminated the cause and the FDA certifies that our facility is once again free of possible contamination.”

The Trader Joe’s brand food items listed in the recall include ready-to-eat meals that are packaged in plastic trays with clear lids. A complete list of the affected products and states where they were shipped can be found here. Select other retailers were also affected by the larger Fuji Food recall, and a complete list of those grocers and the recalled products can be found here.

So far there are no reports of illness, and all of the potentially affected products have been removed from Trader Joe’s shelves. Anyone who has purchased these items is urged not to consume them, and to return them to any Trader Joe’s location for a refund. Anyone with questions may call Trader Joe’s Customer Relations line at (626) 599-3817 (Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PT) or contact the company via email.
