Starbucks Reveals Its First New Beverages of 2020
Starbucks’ new drinks feature plant-based dairy alternatives!
It’s been more than 15 years since Starbucks served its first soy latte back in 2004. Now, the first new Starbucks beverages of the decade will feature plant-based milk alternatives including almond milk, coconut milk, and oat milk.
These new beverages are joining the permanent menu at Starbucks throughout the U.S. and Canada beginning today, January 7th. They are part of the chain’s new winter food and beverage lineup. If you’re looking to kick off the new decade with a new drink from Starbucks, here’s a closer look at what you’ll find on the new winter drink menu…
The new Almondmilk Honey Flat White combines shots of Blonde Espresso with a Honey Blend and steamed almond milk. It’s finished with the Flat White’s signature dot of foam on top.
Starbucks’ new Coconutmilk Latte features shots of Blonde Espresso combined with steamed coconut milk. It’s finished with a line of cascara sugar sprinkled across the top.
Starting today, oat milk is a new non-dairy option in select U.S. markets in the Midwest. Approximately 1,300 participating stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin now offer oat milk as a plant-based option, along with the new Oatmilk Honey Latte.
The Oatmilk Honey Latte is made with Starbucks Blonde Espresso combined with Honey Blend and steamed oat milk. It’s topped with a honey drizzle for a finish that is both sweet and savory.
I wonder if the oatmilk is sugar free or if there will be added sugar in it.
I’m sure the oat milk will not be sugar free, just like their soy milk. But I’m really excited about this! My family gave up dairy years ago and oat milk is my favorite milk alternative since it doesn’t have much of a flavor to it, unlike coconut and almond milks.
Does anyone know if these new options are Gluten Free? Celiac disease over here!
I want to know this as well, I have Celiac too. I guess it depends on what Almond and/or Coconut Milk they use, some are GF and some aren’t.
Anyone seen nutrition info yet?
It’s in the app😊
I enjoyed their free days of espresso drinks to ring in the new year and one day I had the blond flat white for my freebie. For 3 of the 5 days, three of the locations were within 1, 2, and 3 miles of me so I was so lucky! First day missed–waiting in line at the DMV, lol. Also found I had a balance on my Starbuck’s card so will have to check these out.
I tried the coconutmilk latte today. Didn’t care for it at all. It left a slightly sweet weird aftertaste. I’m interested to know whether it’s just me or if others agree.
Are these higher priced then the normal dairy drinks
I tried the almondmilk honey flat white over ice today and it was so good! Perfect amount of sweetness!
I know that almond milk has a $.50 up charge. It’s just more expensive in general. I’m guessing the others will have the same up charge. In my humble opinion it’s a small price to pay for this lactose intolerant, allergic to soy lady!
