Be careful with this. I had southwest reject giftcards that I purchased, and I had to pay $300 extra for a flight and they did nothing to compensate me.

So the gift card went through at the point of purchase but they later reject it so you had to buy another ticket at a higher price???
I think the issue is, Southwest has a limit on gift cards codes you can use and how to use them. Worth it to read up on their website.
