Don’t count on any “lifetime” warranty. My husband’s Chacos split in half on the sole after 2 seasons of wear and they were VERY difficult to deal with. That’s s company was MUCH better when they were a small, independent, USA company. No think Merrell bought them out and it’s all made in China, now.

So sorry to hear about that, Cassie. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I love Chacos and am sorry to hear others had a bad experience. They are, by far, the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I’ve had one pair for at least 7 years with no issues. I recently bought 2 more (I have one pair to kick around in, one for hiking, and one for teaching in). I wear them daily as soon as my toes won’t freeze in the spring until it gets too cold in the fall.

    My kids have them, too.

Oh awesome! SO happy to hear how well they have held up! Thanks a bunch for taking a moment to comment! We sure appreciate the feedback!

I am going to China this summer. I just ordered a pair. Would these be comfortable enough for long days of touring.

According to the Washington Post: “The United States has issued a “Level 4” travel advisory for China, its highest level of caution, over the rapidly spreading outbreak; American, Delta and United will halt all flights to mainland China. Two cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Britain, and the first case in Russia was confirmed.”

Hopefully by the time of your tour Laurie the travel advisory will be lifted!

Both of my daughters were adopted from China at 10&12months old. They are now 12&16. We are going back for a heritage tour for 2 weeks in July. I hope the virus is gone by then. I bought our tickets already and at $3,000 I hope we can still go. I will be wearing good support tennis shoes. Thank you for the concern.

I was in China for two weeks last October for a vacation. I would recommend wearing close-toed shoes especially if you are visiting “tourist spots”. Many places are super crowded and others have uneven pavement, so sandals would not work well for those places. I hope the virus has passed before your trip. And I hope you get to see the Great Wall; that was my favorite place to visit while I was there. 🙂

    How much is shipping?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there! Here are the current shipping details – “Shipping is free on $75+ orders; otherwise, shipping is $5.” Hope that helps!

Any recommendations on the beat style to get? I like arch support…

    • Valerie Bastian

Sorry, just stumbled on your post from several months back. Did you get some chacos and how did they work out for you? I too have very high arches, plus broke tibia and fibula resulting in 95% loss of cartilage and constant swelling, Sometimes I can’t walk then slip on my classic Z chacos with high arch and deep heel cup and off I go. Took me awhile to realize the coincidence LOL. I was wearing sandals year round for the comfort (Brrrr) now going to branch out to dressier chaco cataluna boots and other styles, including sandals, with the same wonderful footbed. Good luck to us both.

I’ve always wanted to try Chacos! Just bought 3 pairs! Thanks!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh perfect! You’re welcome, Katie P! Hope you love them!

Chacos are awesome, but in my opinion don’t buy the one with the toe strap. I purchased 9 pairs with toe strap at Christmas. Age ranging from 5 yrs old – 72 yrs old, & not one person can wear them. Waste of money. I paid to send each pair into Chaco for an adjustment. Yet they were still to painful for folks to wear. The ones without a toe strap are awesome though.

    • C

I agree 100%. I have a pair with a toe loop/strap and I get a blister every time I try to wear them. The arch support is wonderful, though.

    • Valerie Bastian

So sorry, I can just imagine the adventures you had planned, and cute look for your little ones and whole family. Perhaps you’ve switched to Teva’s or Keens by now, but wanted to let you know it took me two years to figure out how to adjust straps so wouldn’t feel like circulation wasn’t cut off to my big toe. I finally saw directions in box for manipulating straps. I wore the same pair for nearly 15 years for biking, hiking, and teaching until the sole fell off. However, I am now going to try a pair of single strap Chacos and possibly without toe strap. Good luck…
