I purchased the sofa and loveseat to replace an upgraded leather set that had been through kids and dogs. Given that I still have both, I did not want to make a huge investment. I also had a bad experience with Ashley. Ordered a couch at the beginning of November and it wasn’t delivered until the end of January. On top of that, customer service could not have been worse. Moral of the story: You get what you pay for.
I have this set. I’ve had them for a little over two years now. The fabric has held up to my little 10 pound dog but the seat cushions have been I total pain. On both my couch and loveseat I have to push the cushions back in every time anyone gets up, they slide out anytime you sit down.
I have heard nothing but bad things about Ashley furniture from friends and family members who’ve bought it. It generally does not hold up well at all.
This exact couch and love seat is at Ashley’s website but is called Bladen instead of Blake for $299 each so they are fooling you thinking it retails for $1200 and you are getting a great bargain. Shipping is a flat $99 no matter how many items so the price is the same but if you have a way to pick it up from the store it will save you $100 over the JC Penney price. I have this couch and loveseat- they are comfortable but wear and tear pretty quick with dogs and kids. I would only put them in a room for show as they do look nice.

How long is “quick”? Would they hold up a year or two? I’d just like to grab something nicer than what we’ve got now but plan to buy really nice furniture in a few years.

My brother and another relative of mine both purchased leather couches from Ashley furniture and within a year their couches were peeling and falling apart. These are both in homes without children or pets so I’d be careful with this deal.
We bought top grain leather set from Costco. After a year, they started peeling. We returned and switched to fabric.
In order to get nice furniture that will last you need to go to a real furniture store and pay around $1500-2000. All of my furniture is middle to high end and I plan on keeping it for a very long time. You get what you pay for.
I’d love to know what brands you buy. We had 2 Ashley couches and 1 loveseat for over 10 years that was pure leather and it held up amazingly to 5 kids and 3 small dogs. We need a new set but I’ve heard so many bad reviews about Ashley I’m afraid maybe their quality has gone down hill. Plus the local furniture store I usually buy at has gone out of business. I have no clue what to get. I’d love a bargain but I’d rather have something that will hold up for 10 years. I only want to remodel about once every 10 years. That’s enough for me! Lol.
I’ve heard that King Hickory is a good brand. It is definitely more expensive, though.
Hi Nikki: we have 1 of the largest home stores called Nebraska Furniture Mart. They have a store in Texas, omaha and Kansas City. Top of the line leather would be Natuzzi. Would last a lifetime. Hundreds of pieces to look at. I have an upper end leather couch and recliner chair that 2as around $3000. It will last me a lifetime. NFM has payment options all the time. They will ship nationwide.
LaZBoy for sure. We had an Ashley couch, and I’ll never buy from them or any other similar store again. LaZBoy is definitely more expensive, but they do run sales. I just purchased a chair in their Presidents Day sale for about half off. So many styles and fabrics that the furniture is totally customizable. Great guarantee, also! I won’t buy anything else again.
This is so true. I bought lazy boy leather 14 years ago and it’s still like new. I have 2 rambunctious boys. Granted I paid $2000 for couch and loveseat but it’s good for another 5 years at the least. My MIL has been through 3 different cheap ones since then.
A note on possible shipping times…I ordered a “on sale” Ashley couch from jcpenney back on December 4th. Original shipping/delivery date was December 20th. It finally got shipped/delivered on Monday February 10th. Our compensation for slow delivery…15% off.
Horrible experience with Ashley Furniture/Coleman! Damaged couch and recliner – absolutely terrible customer service! They did not honor ANYTHING they said and just kept saying once items were delivered you were on your own!

I purchased this exact couch from JCPenny’s a year ago for our sitting room. We have a 4 year old pitbull/lab mix and 3 children who love to sit on this couch.
PROs: holds up very well with rough housing, easy to clean (I use Dyson hand vac), the grey is a nice color, and is very comfortable to sit on or if you are my teenager, lay down and play video game 🙂
CONs: ours also did take a long time for delivery but worth the weight for the price, the 3 seat cushions are not connect like most leather sofas so after the dog or the kids have been playing, I have to push them back into place.
