Just note if you plan on making Hand Sanitizer, this is NOT strong enough to work effectively. Do your research!

    • Sam

I thought it had to be 60 percent. This is 70 percent.

      • J

Just Google Hand Sanitizer recipes & you’ll see what they’re talking about. For example, I just saw a recipe that mentioned if you’re using rubbing alcohol it has to be 91% alcohol or higher. Anyway, hand sanitizers are returning to stores as well as antibacterial wipes. Meanwhile, nothing replaces good old fashion hand washing for at least 20 seconds.

      • Ms

If you are using it straight, it’s effective. However, if you dilute it (with aloe vera, essential oil, etc.) to make hand sanitizer, the end result still need to be 60% alcohol to be effective against covid-19 in non healthcare setting (70% isopropyl alcohol is needed in healthcare setting).

Couple of things to consider when using it straight. Your hands need to stay wet with the alcohol for 30 seconds at least to be sure of killing the virus. Use of straight alcohol dries the skin and creates tiny cracks in the skin that can let germs in while not being visible to the naked eye. Best practice requires agents that moisten the skin while keeping the alcohol from evaporating quickly.

Just don’t buy the equate hand sanitizer. It smells awful. It is so terrible I can’t even use it.

    • Ann

Oh no really. I just bought a bottle but haven’t tried it yet.

      • user2020319

it is the worst smell in the world! and it lingers after using. I even tried adding an essential oil and it did not smell any better. Return ASAP

    • Ms

Thanks for the comment about the smell. I was contemplating to order it but will look for a different brand.

    • Gen

Agree, we had to toss it right after we found a replacement. I’d rather have no sanitizer than use that, made me gag.

I read the same about Art Naturals hand sanitizer, from both Sams & Walmart. Anyone on here try it?

      • kayla

We’re using a bottle of Art Naturals now. Says Scent Free. No smell in bottle, but when rub hands together then can smell a normal alcohol scent. Has no aloe but says has little amount of jojoba oil. Decent for what it is. We like the ones with aloe better though.

Yes both my daughter and I have used it. She just bought another bottle. When people complain about the scent it is the scent of alcohol. There are emollients in it to keep the alcohol from drying too quickly before it kills the virus but no fragrances. Most people are used to scented sanitizers. It is a good basic sanitizer but if the scent of alcohol bothers you as in you open a bottle of rubbing alcohol and can’t deal with it than buy something else.

I’ve purchased 90% RA off amazon for 99 cents a bottle before. I’d price check amazon before rushing to buy this deal.
