ALDI shoppers, check your fridge for a product recall!

A possible link between a multi-state outbreak of Cyclospora illnesses and bagged garden salads from ALDI, Jewel-Osco, and Hy-Vee has initiated a product recall from all three stores.

The FDA and CDC are recommending that all consumers not eat the possibly-affected salads. All stores have voluntarily recalled their bagged salads and removed the affected products from shelves.

Here’s what to check for:

  • ALDI’s affected Little Salad Bar Garden Salads were sold in a 12 oz bag in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Wisconsin stores. They have a UPC code of 4099100082975 and Best By dates of May 1 through June 29.
  • Jewel-Osco’s Signature Farm Garden Salads were sold in a 12 oz bag in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. They have a UPC code of 2113098135 and Best By dates of May 16 through July 4.
  • Hy-Vee’s Brand Garden Salad were sold in a 12 oz bag in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. They recalled all UPC codes and expiration dates.

If you purchased from ALDI, they suggest throwing away the affected product immediately.

Jewel-Osco asks you to discard the salads or return them for a refund, or call 1-877-723-3929.

Hy-Vee is also requesting customers who purchased the affected items to discard them or return them to their local store for a full refund, or call 1-800-772-4098.

While the investigation is still ongoing, there have been a total of 76 reports of illness so far. The FDA and CDC stated there may be additional retailers and products affected by this outbreak. You can stay updated here.

Publix also has a recall on Fresh Express Southwest Chopped salad.

    • hip2trade

It’s because the particular bagged salad at Publix contains nuts and possible allergens that were not listed on the packaging.

Oh darn! Thanks, Lana! Good to know!

Wow, my family and I just ate that salad today for lunch. I just check and it’s the same UPC code.

I had it last week. Guess I’ll wait and see what happens. Says 1-2 wks for symptoms.

My husband ate a whole bag of it in the last 2 days. He’s ok so far, but we’ll see

I believe my daughter ate some of this salad she purchased at Hy-Vee here in Iowa, a couple of weeks ago. This last week she woke in the middle of the night with extreme stomach pain and other not so nice symptoms (if you know what I mean). Other than having abdominal soreness, she was much better in a day or two.

Oh darn! I’m SO glad she is feeling better! 💖

I’m in Southern Cali, I just bought this on Sunday but we haven’t opened yet. It doesn’t say Cali as affected but it’s the exact barcode and 1 day off on expiration. So we aren’t eating it!!! Thankfully I just now saw this or I would have given my 1.5 and 3.5 year old some with their dinner in an hour 🙁

From Aldi. The expiration on mine are all June 30

Ugh….I just ate this salad from Aldi the last two days.
