More than 190,000 ceiling fans sold at The Home Depot in the U.S. and Canada are being recalled following 40+ reports of the blades coming off of the fan while in use. In at least two cases, the detached fan blade hit a consumer and there were four reports of the blades causing property damage.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that 182,000 of the Hampton Bay 54-inch Mara Indoor/Outdoor fans were sold across the US in stores and online from April through October of 2020 for around $150. The Home Depot also sold 8,800 additional fans in Canada.

The recalled fans have a white color-changing integrated LED light and remote control. They were sold in four finishes, with the accompanying UPC numbers listed below:

  • Matte White 082392519186
  • Matte Black 082392519193
  • Black 082392599195

I’m very cranky about this. We just had two of them installed on high ceilings by an electrician. I can’t even inspect them without help. 🙁

Wow I am sorry. That is awful. I hope you get it figured out.

Who made them without testing them. Sounds like the air bag fiasco.
