This computerized telescope is great for both beginning and experienced stargazers! It has a fully automated GoTo mount with over 40,000 celestial objects already loaded so it will automatically find objects for you to look at.
Simply center any three bright objects and then the telescope will locate thousands more! It has a sturdy steel tripod design that makes it easy to set up and take down. Plus, it includes a free copy of Starry Night software and a 2-year warranty.
Not in the budget but oh man, our family would love this! Cool post.
We have this telescope. Bought it full price two years ago as a Christmas gift and have used it much less than anticipated. It is complicated to use and the documentation is thin. The automated finder system requires you to triangulate off three KNOWN objects and they must be very bright. So some nights you’ve got the moon but then you have to choose two other known objects. It’s not easy and we rarely get the star finder feature to work. We live in California in a small town where the existing evening lighting isn’t too bright so it’s not like we are flooded with major city lights. The canister for the telescope lens is extremely large in circumference but short in length so it’s a bit unwieldy to move around. Also, you need to purchase filters for the eyepiece as the moon is much too bright to look at with this telescope. In hindsight, we would have enjoyed a $100 – $200 manual telescope much more.
That’s some great information and I appreciate you taking the time to write it all out, Carol! Thank you!
