White Castle Recalls Several Types Of Its Frozen Sliders Due to Listeria Concerns

There’s another listeria-related recall in the news! 😱

White Castle has issued a voluntary recall of frozen cheeseburgers, frozen hamburgers, and frozen jalapeno cheeseburgers due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal illnesses in young children, elderly people, pregnant women, unborn babies, and others with weakened immune systems.

The contamination was discovered when a recent laboratory test of one of the frozen sandwiches from one manufacturing facility revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. So far, no illnesses associated with these products have been reported.

“Our number one focus is the safety of our customers and our team members, and as a family-owned business, we want to hold ourselves to the absolute highest standards of accountability in all aspects of our business – and especially food safety,” said White Castle Vice President, Jamie Richardson.

This recall affects frozen White Castle products with Best By dates ranging from August 4, 2020, to August 17, 2020. To view a complete list of the products that are being recalled, please refer to the announcement posted on the FDA’s website.

Consumers who may have purchased any of these products are urged to dispose of them or return them to the point of purchase for an exchange or a full refund. Customers may also contact White Castle directly at 1-800-843-2728. The FDA is urging anyone with medical questions to consult with their physician.
