I just came from my Walgreens. Wanted to buy 2 Crest Radiant White toothpastes for $3 each using a $3/2 digital coupon plus an Oral B toothbrush for $3 using a $2 digital coupon AND getting $5 in register cash back. The cashier said I could only use one coupon and so did the manager. He said one coupon was for the Oral B toothbrush but the other coupon was for Oral B and/or Crest products so the second coupon got cancelled out due to the fact that it said Oral B products on it too. I still don’t get it. I bought 3 products and should have been able to use both coupons plus get the $5 Walgreens cash back.

    • how1710

I don’t see why they wouldn’t let you use both. I like to put things in my cart on the Walgreens app before I shop to make sure things attach correctly. Of course that only works with digital coupons. Also if I’m only using digital coupons I like to buy through the app and then do store pickup that way I don’t have to worry about items not attaching. Sorry for you bad experience.

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hey Babs, am I understanding correctly that you wanted to buy two toothpastes and one toothbrush? That would be only three items so two $3/2 coupons would not work as they would need 4 items. If you had two Oral B Toothbrushes, that would use up one of the $3/2 coupons and the 2 toothpastes would use up the other one but you would need 4 items for them to apply correctly.

      • Stacy

        The $2 the q is $2/1 not $2/2

        • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ah, ok! I misunderstood. Yes, the $2/1 Oral B should totally work with the $3/2 Oral B, Crest!

There are two different $3 coupons that I have. The one I believed you had clipped is worded something like “Two Crest AND/OR Oral-B
Dental Care Select” which would have meant that 3 products would have been covered under this same coupon and you couldn’t use the $2 coupon in combination. The $3 coupon you want to use states something like Two adult crest toothpastes 3 oz or more. That coupon should work fine with the $2 off on the Oral-B. See if you have the $3 coupon and if so just redo the deal. Take back the other toothpaste and ask for the $3 coupon back in WC. One thing to understand about manufacturer’s coupons is the manufacturer not Walgreens sets the terms and conditions. If a digital doesn’t work as frustrating as it is at least in my area managers do not have leeway to force it through. P&G Is notorious for their sensitivity to perceived coupon misuse. I hope this is of some use to you and works out okay.

I spent time online getting some greeting these deals plus some other stuff for a store pick up. I got an email today saying my order was canceled.
This is the 3nd time in 3 weeks this happened at my local Walgreens. I’ve had so many issues with ordering stuff.
I used to love Walgreens but I’m really getting frustrated with them.
I’m wondering if others have issues with online orders?

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

It definitely varies by store, jeaniedcook – at least for me. One store in my area always has good stock and has never once cancelled my order, the other cancels stuff all the time. I don’t know if their inventory is off or what.
One thing I do to help is allow for substitutions when possible. If it is a deal like the Crest above, then I would add a note that says sub any $3 Crest Toothpaste included in the Walgreens Cash deal. I’ve had a lot of success doing that.
Also note that Walgreens customer service is usually really great about rewarding Walgreens Cash in lieu of your used coupons. Just do a quick online chat with them.

Consider doing a ship to store if your items are eligible and take advantage of the discount you get in your pickup email on full priced items; this is a big perk. Try a different store because they really do vary. What really helps me is to put this message in the substitution box in all caps: Do not cancel. This is a couponing deal. I will take anything the coupons will work on. Thank you for your extra time. Copy and paste. I don’t think there’s anyway to avoid some disappointments unless you are doing a ship to store on small orders.

      • micktoo

I just had an order for site to store shipping canceled. Part of the order was already picked up. The cancellation caused the order to lose the $5.00 Walgreens rewards. I don’t know if I will even bother to TRY to explain that to customer service. 🙂

I’m so very sorry. That is very discouraging.

    • Ellen

My walgreens has canceled my order several times even though I select “allow substitutions)” so the last time I called and asked why and the girl said she wasn’t sure what substitution I would want. I now put please, please substitute my item for literally any (Colgate or whatever the coupon is for) item in the store lol.

I noticed that the prices varied from my online pickup order vs. when I actually went into the store. The online prices were lower, sometimes by as much as 50 cents a product (doesn’t sound like much, but it did add up quickly). I normally put together a shopping plan online, but then sometimes go in and shop. This was the first time I noticed a discrepancy in pricing.

    • Stacy F (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Interesting! It shouldn’t vary with the sale items, but it definitely can and will with items not advertised on sale. We saw that a lot with that recent Nexxus deal. It was WAY cheaper online than in-store.

      • Kassb

Stacy– These were all buy one get one free items for this week. Spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, etc. and I am not sure if these prices are advertised or just the promo of BOGO. Anyway, just something to be aware of next time I guess.

Did they just not get the shelves changed to match the sale ad? This happens sometimes in my stores but it rings up correctly. As you say In general online prices are much lower than in the store.

Hey, Newbie, (don’t know your name:) That’s really great especially considering walgreens is really picky about their coupon usage. Well done!!
