Through October 16th, Southwest Airlines is offering one-way flights for as low as $49!

Things to keep in mind:

  • Seats, travel days, and markets are limited
  • A 21-day advance purchase is required
  • Valid on select U.S. and continental U.S. travel
  • Flights must be booked by October 16th
  • “Basic” fares are excluded from this promotion
  • Some blackout dates apply (see below)

Example one-way routes from $49:

  • Flying from Richmond, VA to Baltimore, MD
  • Flying from Dallas (Love Field), TX to Austin, TX
  • Flying from Orlando, FL to Fort Myers, FL
  • Flying from Orlando, FL to Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Flying from San Jose, CA to Long Beach, CA
  • Flying from San Jose, CA to Portland, OR
  • Flying from Honolulu (Oahu), HI to Kona, HI

Valid travel dates:

  • U.S. travel to/from Hawaii, international, and San Juan, PR: valid 11/4/25–3/4/26
  • Interisland Hawaii travel: 11/4-12/17/25

Blackout dates:

Southwest customers will have assigned seats in 2026.

Southwest announced plans to eliminate open seating and offer assigned seats to enhance the customer experience. The company will also offer premium seating options. Assigned seats are now available for purchase for travel beginning January 27th, 2026.

Additional updates are also being made, including faster WiFi, new in-seat power, larger overhead bins, and more comfortable seats.
