Amazon’s Entire Music Catalog is Now FREE for Prime Members!
Amazon is giving Prime members FREE access to more than 100 million songs!
Amazon has announced that it is expanding its music benefit for Prime members, giving them access to more than 100 million songs in shuffle mode, more ad-free podcasts, and additional features that will make it easier to discover new content in the Amazon Music app.
All of these new benefits come at NO additional cost to Amazon Prime members. So now that this Amazon music free option exists, why would anyone pay $8.99/month for Amazon Music Unlimited?
If you’re a serious music lover and you’re looking for a service that compares with a paid Spotify or Apple Music subscription, you’ll probably still want to keep your Amazon Music Unlimited membership.
But if you’re a Prime Member and looking for free music, then these updates could make Amazon Music one of the better free options currently available! Keep reading for the new FREE Amazon Music benefits available to Prime members.

1. Get access to Amazon’s full catalog of music in shuffle mode.
Prime members will now be able to stream more than 100 million songs entirely ad-free. Previously, Amazon Prime members had access to approximately 2 million songs, so this is a huge upgrade!
Now Prime members can shuffle-play any artist, album, or playlist, and stream a collection of playlists tailored to their listening preferences on demand.
The catch is that you’ll have to listen in shuffle mode, so that is one of the disadvantages of listening to free music on Amazon vs. having a paid Amazon Music Unlimited subscription.
2. Listen to more podcasts ad-free.
Prime members can now listen to the most ad-free podcasts available on-demand, including shows from CNN, NPR, ESPN, and The New York Times.
Prime Members will also get free access to the Wondery catalog of premium podcasts like Dr. Death, SmartLess, Even the Rich, and more.
3. Gain access to new Amazon exclusive shows and series.
Amazon is introducing new exclusive podcasts across all genres including Baby, this is Keke Palmer, MrBallen Podcast, Suspect: Vanished in the Snow, COLD Season Three, Killer Psyche Daily, and a weekly bonus episode of The Old Man and the Three, hosted by former NBA player JJ Redick.
4. Use new features that make it easier to discover your next favorite podcast.
In addition to the most ad-free podcasts available, listeners will now have access to a new Podcast Previews feature, which allows you to preview short soundbites from podcast episodes as you browse.
These curated clips are designed to introduce new listeners to podcasts and make it easier for existing podcast fans to find their next favorite show.

This is the worst. I am so disappointed with the change. I like to listen to albums straight through as the artist intended. Now I can only listen to one song then the automatic shuffle takes over and force feeds me things I’m not asking for. Definitely a thumbs down 👎 from me. I probably won’t be using Amazon Music much in the future.
I agree completely! For me, this is a huge drawback.
Same. So disappointed, won’t be listening as well 😔
I was so bummed when I found this out today.
At this point I don’t even know why I am paying for Prime.
I used my playlists a lot, but now I can’t unless they are on shuffle.
I’ve been asking myself the same thing. Is prime still worth it?
It says that you can use Shuffle play mode based on artist. However, when I asked for a specific artist, Alexa said that would cost $4.99 a months more. Otherwise the shuffle mode would include artists similar to the one I requested. 🤷🏼♀️
🙋♀️ Also not a fan of this. I like to listen to an album in full. I also often don’t agree with what artists Amazon deems similar to the one I requested.
WooHoo. I love this! I just listen randomly anyhow and I appreciate a reason to ditch that extra payment. Thanks for the heads-up, H2S!
You’re welcome, MH! 💖
Yes, this is disappointing. I had a bunch of albums downloaded to listen on the plane and now can’t listen to any of them.
This has been awful!!!! I am so frustrated. I might as well just delete the app 🤦♀️ this isn’t any different now than pandora
Wait why is everyone upset? And I don’t mean this as a snarky comment, I’m truly confused. Unless I’m misunderstanding, if you are already currently paying for Amazon’s music unlimited, nothing will change for you, and you will still have the same control features. This is for anyone that does NOT have unlimited, only general prime member, or someone who is ok with stepping down from unlimited, knowing they can still listen to all the music they want, but they won’t have some of the same features that they currently have. Am I correct? So if you are already paying the $9 and happy with the music plan and enjoy your control with how you listen to the music, you can continue on doing the exact same thing. Unlimited music subscribers won’t experience any change. If you WANT to save $9, you can cancel your unlimited plan, while still being a prime member, and now listen to almost all the same music, you just lose some control in the order of albums/playlists.
For us paying for prime that were not previously paying for unlimited, we can now no longer listen to the music we select. All of my playlists are now completely pointless. I can only listen to random music on a random shuffle. And that’s not just shuffling my existing playlist. It’s a general shuffle of all the music on the Amazon library, loosely based on what you already had saved.
Oh ok. I didn’t realize how much you were still able to listen to without having Unlimited (we’ve had unlimited for awhile because I remember there being a lot of songs I wanted to listen to but I couldnt access them with the free version. I understand that those that already utilized the free version and found enough songs they enjoyed are now upset with the shuffle stuff. My guess is there is also a group of people that don’t care as much about the order of what they listen to as much as they care about being able to access way more songs. I guess its one of those to each their own type things. Thanks for helping explain!
Yeah, no. Got excited for a minute, but shuffle mode would annoy us. We like to play specific songs, so I guess I’m keeping my $5.38 a month subscription.
How do you get your subscription so low? Mine is like $9.
It used to be $4.38 up until a couple months ago when it went up. It’s actually $5.47 now. I think we have the one device only subscription, even though we have 3 echos, we can only play the good music in the kitchen. I think it’s called the individual plan but could be wrong.
Thank you for posting about this. I canceled my unlimited subscription. I’m glad to having access to more songs without having to pay extra. I only listen to specific songs & not all the time so happy to save some $$.
You’re welome, Jacie! Enjoy your free music! 🙌💞
Can you tell me how you cancelled? I’ve tried to cancel and it’s just a big endless loop. Thanks in advance!
Hey Naomi! I did find these steps (depending on how you signed up) on how to cancel your Amazon Unlimited Music –
If you subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited through iTunes visit the Apple website to cancel your subscription. If you signed up through a third party, such as Apple, Google, or a mobile service provider, you may need to contact the third party to cancel or receive a refund, if any, under its policies.
If you signed up through Amazon, you may cancel your Amazon Music Unlimited plan at any time using the following steps:
1. Go to Your Amazon Music Settings.
2. Go to the Amazon Music Unlimited section.
3. Select the Cancel option in your Subscription Renewal details.
4. Confirm the cancellation.
Hope this is helpful! 🤞💞
Thanks for the info, I appreciate the help!
You’re welcome! 🥰
It is terrible, I have prime as prime delivery works for us, I never paid extra for music, was fine with the limits as they were. But for years my daughters could listen to their favorite movie soundtrack of the moment and now I have to pay extra to get what I used to have included as part of prime. They don’t want similar or shuffle, and when I want a specific artist, that is what I am in the mood for and now Amazon is trying to get more money from me.
This change was NOT to give people a better deal, it was to try and force people to pay more money for something they used to get under prime.
Last night I asked to shuffle songs by a particular pop artist. The first song was by that artist and then switched to mariachi music🤷♀️ We do have Apple Music through our cloud bundle, so I learned to say “Alexa, play______ on Apple Music” to get what I want. Annoying though.
