Did you know about these Greyhound programs that exist to help our most vulnerable community members? Now you do!

Greyhound loves to give back! 🙌

You may know that the popular bus service, Greyhound, offers affordable transportation throughout the country, but did you know that the company does a lot of philanthropy too? Each year, Greyhound helps runaway children get home, veterans get to the hospital, and so much more! The company supports five really beneficial programs that you need to know about!

5 helpful organizations that offer discounted or free Greyhound bus tickets:

1. The Home Free Program helps runaway children get to a safe living arrangement. 🏡

Greyhound has partnered with the National Runaway Safeline to help reunite runaway children with their families. Each year Greyhound provides some 400 FREE Greyhound bus tickets for homeless and runaway youth. These free tickets help vulnerable children get to a parent, legal guardian, or other safe living arrangements. For more information on this incredible program, visit www.1800runaway.org or call toll-free 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929).

2. Greyhound helps the Red Cross in emergencies. 🚌

3. Greyhound gives a free ticket to an organ transplant patient and their caregiver. 🏥

When someone needs an organ, there is no time to waste. Every year, Greyhound gives the American Organ Transplant Association (AOTA) free ride vouchers. These vouchers help reduce the cost and stress for those in need. Patients will get free round-trip vouchers to Greyhound for themselves and the caregiver accompanying them to the procedure. That’s pretty amazing!

If you know an organ transplant patient in need of free Greyhound bus tickets, their social worker or transplant coordinator can visit the AOTA website to submit a request.

4. Travelers down on their luck can count on Greyhound to lend a hand. 🧳

Greyhound gives discounted bus tickets to Travelers Aid International, an organization that offers assistance to all kinds of travelers. These ticket discounts go to vulnerable travelers like young people trying to get home or senior citizens who missed their bus.

If you’re a traveler down on your luck, contact Travelers Aid to see if you can get one of these discounted Greyhound bus tickets. The organization may also help foreign travelers having difficulty getting directions, assist medical patients in getting prescriptions that have been delayed, or even offer a free phone card for a teen who needs to contact family.

5. Thanks to Greyhound, veterans can receive discounted rides to Veterans Affairs Hospitals.
