(Thanks, Clip & Follow!)
I have this set, minus a few items (was $97 at Walmart a few BF’s ago I think) – love it! The cookie sheets warp a little when heated, but they are supernon-stick and easy to clean.
This is also in the black Friday ad at WalMart. I am begging for this from my boyfriend!
I own this guys..i would rather pay more and get a better set..Like the tramontina tri-ply cookware on walmart.com.Its rated best buy at cooks illustrated…comparable to All-Clad.All-clad goes for $1500 plus…and tramontina is just $150.
i just bought this great deal came right on time because i was looking for a cookware set thank you hip2save !!!
We need a new cookware set but I know nothing about what to buy. I have always bought cheap stuff, but now make most of our food from scratch. I need an education on cookware! 🙂
the is an amazing cook set, you might as well spend the money it lasts longer and this deal at walmart is TERRIFIC, even with all the controvery with Paula her cookware is still great quality
Anyone have any tips on where to get a good deal on a good brand for just a single large skillet? I find they are so expensive individually, but I really like my set I have, and only want to replace my heavily used large (over 12 in) fry pan!
You have to decide whether you want non-stick/hard anodised or tri-ply.Nonstick calphalon is the best.I have seen them reasonably priced at Marshalls/TJ Maxx.
As far as tri-ply nothing beats All-Clad…its crazzy exp and i cant afford it.So the cheapest and comparable option is Tramontina tri-ply..availbale only on walmart.com.Make sure you search for tri-ply version as tramontina has many lines of cookware..i bought a couple of pieces after my Paula Deen cookware was thrown out and let me tell u…IM IN LOVE!!!
I am really into America’s test kitchen and they raved about the tramontina too! With a good review from a hip2saver. I may need to just do it. I really am not sure about not doing non-stick though!
Hey Krista…i understand your confusion.I have hard anodised skillets too(Calphalon). Its really good and i use it every other day for frying fish and other delicate food that i dont want sticking to the pan and breaking but i went in for a 8 piece Tramontina tri-ply set from Walmart.com and i cant stop gushing about it…and now the price of that set is on rollback for $118…its a cookware for life and taking that into consideration i consider it cheap
Do you have to scrub it with a scotchbrite like pad to clean it? Thank you so much for your info Liz!!
I use a steel wool to scrub it…and if i feel its not shiny enough i use bar keepers friend powder and it shines like new….i remember once after cooking rice pulao on it i thought i turned it off…but when i came and checked after 20 min…it was burned completely at the bottom…i thought i had ruined it…i scraped off whatever i could and let it cool and then soaked it in water for half and hr…the burned rice just came right off and my pan was not affected…used barkeepers friend and it looked like i just got it right out off the store..Can u tell i love it ? 🙂
what pieces do you think are essential from this line?
Cynthia..it depends on your cooking…i bought the set..which is cheaper than buying individual pieces..but i did add the Tri-ply saute pan over a period of time because i wanted a big 5 qt saute pan…the saute pan($70) is half the cost of the 8 pieces set ($114)…so i would recommend buying the set as it has the basic needs..use it for some time and then decide what else you really need
I love my All-Clad skillet and sauce pan. Got them for a wedding gift though! They are still like new and that was 20 years ago!
I have seen Paula Deen cookware at Big Lots for a good price before.
I was planning on getting this in BF!
I really like the Emeril skillet i Bought from Bed Bath and Beyond.
I am looking for a good set of cookware for my daughter but after googling reviews on this set I will continue to look around as the reviews overall were not good. Any suggestions on a good brand with a middle of the road price tag?
Emeril cookware. The set was on sale at Macy’s for $100 a while back.
Just bought a set, This deal beats any BF Ads I had seen so far. (I Think) I was looking at the RR set at Target & Meijer’s.
My blue set changed color the FIRST day my son cooked in it. I was next to him and he did nothing wrong. Since then, every pot I’ve used is now yellow up the side. I do not put them in the dishwasher. I baby them. I use wood utensils. I make sure the flame is not going up the side (gas stove). My son’s girlfriend cooked scrambled eggs in the tiny one, using a wood spoon. She scrambles in the pot (while I do it in a bowl and transfer them). Now there are scratches and everything sticks. What’s the deal. Like I said, this started the first day and I researched like crazy before buying. I’m going to be told that the heat was too high (it wasn’t) and a wohle host of excuses. I totally babied these!!!!
My husband got me a similar set when it was BF deal 2 years ago. It’s okay but nothing great… I have the robin’s egg blue color & can’t get the bottom of the pots & pans clean… my gas stove seems to stain them or scorch grease on or something… they’re starting to look a little ragged after 2 years of regular everyday use. Also one of the pots warped to where to the lid no longer fits on it.
Also — this set is NOT dishwasher safe… just in case that matters to you.
Thanks for the head’s up!
Most pots and pans are not dishwasher safe.
I have this set, in blue, minus a few pieces… was thinking about craigslisting my current set and buying this one. I got them last year on BF, and they have worked good. I like them alot, only issue I’ve had is some of the non-stick on the small skillet is coming off.
I’d totally purchase again!
awesome! i have 2 skillets from paula deen i bought a few years ago that are still in perfect condition because i do hand wash them!! and i paid $35 for those 2 skillets with no lids to them. so to me, this is a great deal. and i know it is listed in the wm black friday ad and was planning on snagging it then, but last year, they sold out quickly online and in the stores in my surrounding area so of course i missed out then. oh, and i do own a >$400 set from emeril (that i also hand wash) and i much prefer the paula deen. thanks so much!!
Yay!! Thank you so much! I was going to “brave” Black Friday, just for this set! Thanks so much for posting this, I can stay home now!!!
I have this set and it is fantastic! Perfect for everyday use!
I have this set. I got mine Black Friday 2010. I loved mine. Do not put them in a dish washer. It tells you not to. My husband , and kids did. now the paint has faded, and food sticks to them.
I got a slightly smaller Paula Deen set for Christmas last year and LOVE it! I use them all the time and they still look new. I do make sure to hand wash them and store them carefully. I’m also very careful not to use metal utensils so they don’t scratch. I’ve been nothing but happy with the way they cook and how well they’ve held up. I’d buy another set in a heartbeat if I needed one. Almost wish I did!
My in-laws had this set and had to replace it within six months. The teflon started peeling off in the pots and pans even though they never used metal tools while cooking or serving. They also always hand washed them. They called the company and advised them of this and they were told that they had to have used metal in the pans. They replaced them with a set of T-fals.
Thanks for the post Collin! I am in desperate need of replacing our Calphon set we got 12 yrs ago…non stick is coming off of several pieces. I am interested in the walmat tramontine set…can anyone tell me how it cleans up and how it works as far as nonstick?
Cynthia i have the tramontina tri-ply set..which is not non-stick..i replaced all non-stick with hard anodised..lasts longer and no peeling of the coating..for hard anodised i love Calphalon…for tri-ply i have tried calphalon tri-ply and Tramontina..both are good but tramontina is 1/3rd the cost for the same quality if not better.
I love my Paula deen pan but I wouldn’t want anything else in my kitchen with Teflon. It’s horrible for you and if it ever peels off it’s very toxic to your food. FYI!
I bought this set, I had went back to look again at the pieces and the deal is no longer avaiable until Cyber Monday.
Where will they have this Paula Deen 23 pc set on cyber Monday?
is this a good deal. i have no idea
