I think these take a lot more than ” a little shake!” It was like 1/2 hour for mine
LOL is it worth it MikeB?
Reviews aren’t good for this or the brown one.
Just think of all the calories you’ll burn off!!
I’m thinking it might be good for other types of frozen treats, such as frozen yogurt or coconut ice cream, etc.
No! You’ll be selling it at a yard sale for .50, LOL! Actually, you’ll end up donating it to Goodwill because no one will buy it. It takes FOREVER and the “ice cream” is more like a melting milkshake. Kids lose interest well before it is ready. The included recipes aren’t great, either. We made mint but it called for way too much mint extract and tasted mostly of alcohol. Yuck. I found a brand new Cuisinart ice cream maker at Goodwill for $8.
We bought one for my daughter for Christmas and it was horrible!! We used it once. It is now in the trash somewhere.
ummmmm…. a big no! Unless the kids want to dance shaking it until its ready.
Ordered these as birthday party favors – kids will love it!
That’s what I was thinking. Kids will love it. Keeping them occupied for a half an hour is well worth $2! lol
Haha!
Good luck with that! Kids lose interest before it’s anywhere near ready–and mine are ice cream fiends.
While its fun to make my own ice cream (occasionally), I find its cheaper and easier to just buy a carton. The whipping cream needed is more expensive than a carton of ice cream. The good think about owning your own ice cream machine is knowing the ingredients that are used but it doesn’t save you money, at least not me 🙁
Sadly, many things made from scratch don’t save money–or time! Big reasons why so many people eat poorly. You wouldn’t think that would be the case. Go figure.
So first you post about a free subscription to Weight Watchers Magazine then tell me to buy an ice cream maker…awesome Collin LOL This will make a great addition to my girls’ angel tree gifts at church this year thank you!
HA HA weight watchers magazine and then buy an ice cream maker !! LOL
I got one of these on clearance at Target before Christmas. We used it once and it was fun and worked fine. But it was so flipping impossible to clean afterwards that we just ended up throwing it away. So not worth it!
Recycled? Donated?
These look cute as a novelty item, but yes reviews seem aweful and anything you have to shake yourself seems to take so long and the kids are done after 2 minutes.
I just read a homemade recipe that looked great especially with kids, but I haven’t tried it yet.
Whip some whipping cream, add condensed milk and some melted chocolate (cooled) or blended berries. Combine and stick in the freezer.
Very kewl picked up 3one for me 2for gifts
My daughter saw this on youtube and was fascinated. Even if it takes a while to make the ice cream, it will be fun and keep her busy!
The chocolate one is $1 more if you need different colors!
out of stock
Item unavailable. 🙁
OOS
The chocolate is still available – just got one
Is this, essentially, the slushy maker repackaged for ice cream? I remember reading the ‘recipe’ for the slushy maker and it also calls for pre-freezing and squeezing.
my in laws got us one its shaped like a ball u put stuff in and kick it around for 30 mins kids have a great time playin w it then eating ice cream which taste great it is a little pain to clean and ingredients is kinda expense but for a treat its great
My daughter got one of these for Christmas. We never have to shake ours for long and the kids love it. I also didn’t find it hard to clean. I think it’s a fun treat for the kids. Just wanted to post a positive review for those of you who got it. : )
I didn’t think it took long either, and mine got pretty frozen too. The ice cream needed more sugar but it was fun for my daughter. Wasn’t hard to clean either.
Thanks, Melissa & Lauren. I ordered one for my niece’s bday and was considering returning it when I read such negative reviews. It’s nice to know that some enjoyed it; considering how your kids enjoyed it, I think that even if my niece has fun with it once, it’s worth <$3 for a bday novelty gift.
Out of stock 🙁
I got similar ones at Bed Bath and Beyond on clearance for $1 each. It does take quite a bit of work for a tiny amount of ice cream, but we took the metal inner part out and now use them as cute bowls for store bought ice cream 🙂
