FREE Museum Day on 9/26: Reserve Your Tickets Now (+ Get FREE Entrance to National Parks This Saturday)
Here’s a great opportunity for you and a friend to check out a local museum for FREE! This Saturday, September 26th, you can snag up to 2 FREE tickets to your local participating museum, sponsored by the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live! annual event. Awesome!
Here’s what you need to do to do your FREE ticket (valid for up to 2 people)…
* Head over here and check out the participating museums in your area.
* Once you have found a participating museum, head over here and complete the registration form.
* Your ticket will be emailed to you after you submit your information; remember to print and bring your ticket to your selected participating museum on Saturday.
* Keep in mind that your free ticket is good for two people per household and is NOT valid for special exhibits, IMAX film screenings or for use with any other offers. There is a limit of 1 Museum Day Ticket per household and per valid email address.
AND, in celebration of National Public Lands Day, you can take advantage of an Entrance-Free Day at over 120 participating National Parks this Saturday, September 26th. This is a perfect opportunity to relax with your family and get those kiddos out of the house for an outdoor adventure 😉 ! Check out the list of participating parks here.

Woohoo! We were going to Olympic National Park this weekend anyway for one last hurrah. Thanks so much!
Yay! You are so welcome! Have fun!! 😀
Thank you !! This is excellent!
You’re welcome!
So I reserve tickets in flight museum but it’s only for two people. My question is I got two kids,I am free too or I have to pay for myself?
Only Free for two people per household 🙁
That’s frustrating. So only couples without kids are free. :-p Not sure what the point is!
You still save on 2 tickets that you’d normally have to pay for. I’d rather pay for 2 than 4. I think that’s “the point” (?).
Even though it states one per household, people always get one coupon for each adult then split up to bring the kids in. Everyone I know has done this for years and years at every participating museum in our city and no one has ever cared.
True
Reduced rate! At least half off when including everyone 🙂 depends on where you choose to go and family size. a Fun family experience, ways to get out of the house on the cheap 🙂 they didn’t even have to give two away for free. How kind of them! Planetarium night showing here we come!! Experiences trump Amazon toys any day. Thank you!
Well, for starters, not everyone has kids. And it’s 2 free admissions! What if you had 6 kids, would you still be complaining that it was only 4 and not 8? Take what you can get; these are all amazing non-profits, if you want to go, you can handle a couple kids admissions.
Have your hubby or another family register for the other 2 tickets Erin. Then the whole family has an affordable day.
Why would you pay? A child admission is usually much cheaper than an adult. Use the coupon for you and a child, then pay for a child.
Thank you soooo much. 🙂
You are so welcome!
Got two one for me and my 5 year old son who loves transportation. We are going to the railroad museum. He is going to love it.
So glad to hear that! Have fun! 🙂
Thanks
YW!
Thank you! Space & Rocket Center for hubby & me! Yay!
Perfect! YW! 😀
Thank you…this saved me $30 im taking my son to the aviation museum
Where is the railroad museum?
I can not see the “list of participating parks” after clicking on the link above. It only mentions which days are free, but not which national parks are free.
Did you enter in your zip code to see if there are any participating in your area?
I found museum with no problem. However link to the national park only says “find a park” but no place to enter the zip code.
I had to register and then I went to tickets and it already knew what state I was in by my registration. There was a drop down menu if available museums I could get tickets to hope that helps.
I had problem looking for national parks, not museums. I eventually found the correct park locator on the site. Thank you though.
So glad you found it! 😀
Omg I am so excited and so very thankful Collin!! My husband and I will be going to the Desert Botancical Garden here in Phoenix!! You saved us $44 total! Plus the weather is perfect for that! So looking forward to a day date! You’re the best!!
You are so welcome Brandy! 😉
The railroad museum is in Baltimore.Sometimes they have Chuggington& Thomas there.
Yay!! We can finally check out the children’s museum that’s been too expensive to risk! Thank you Collin!
Yw! 😀
Help!
I registered a Smithsonian account and every time I click on “Get Tickets”, I am taken to my dashboard page, where it has links to a photo contest and to edit my profile information, but I don’t see any link to actually get tickets for the Carolinas Aviation Museum that says is participating. I received an email, but it only says, “Thanks for signing up at http://www.smithsonianmag.com.” What am I doing wrong??
Thanks in advance!!
Same here! clicked on get tickets and it’s taking me to the same page for the photo contest or to edit my profile 🙁 Hmmm.
It’s working now! A brand new menu appeared with Museum Day stuff listed.
So it’s not just me!! lol Anybody else have this problem and figure out how to make it work?
Unfortunately, nothing in my area 🙁
