I have a questions for anyone who might have experience with this type of coffee maker: a lot of reviewers on Amazon complain that the glass part on these french-press coffee makers are VERY fragile. Most of the people who write positive reviews have only had it for a short time and those who had it longer tend to complain that the carafe breaks with regular use. I have never been a coffee drinker but will need to be since my blood pressure is always ridiculously low and this is the kind coffee maker I am planning on buying (trying to avoid plastic).I have been researching them on Amazon for days now and can not make up my mind which one to choose. I know there are some that have very good reviews but those are beyond my budget right now. Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I’ve owned this exact one for about four years. I use it almost every single day. I use a bamboo spoon to stir and don’t leave it in the sink, where it might be hit by something. You are supposed to use course grounds with this type. So be aware that means grinding your own. Or you could be like me and use the regular grounds and make amazingly strong coffee.
I have had mine for a year and it seems to be perfectly fine just like any other glass you have to be careful but I put hot water right of the stove and have had no problems
We have had several Bodum items and they are of good quality. We went to K-cups for quite awhile and recently we decided to go back to using the press on the weekends when we have time to actually enjoy the experience. Once you plunge the coffee down after it sits for a bit, let it sit a bit longer to allow any smaller particles to sink to the bottom, then tilt it and pour it off slowly. We too use just regular grind but just bought a bag of Don Pablos whole bean from Costco to grind ourselves for the colder months ahead.
Thanks for such awesome feedback Patty!
No longer $15.65, now $17.29.
Thanks for sharing. I am seeing it at $18.26.
