When I click on the link to find participating museums, all I get is the Smithsonian asking museums to participate??

  2. Amy

Anyone else finding this website really confusing? I’m having a hard time finding a list of participating museums.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Just updated the link to find them easier! Hope that helps!

  3. KS

I clicked on the link but can’t seem to find the participating museums and not sure I understand how to get the ticket. Thank you

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi there! Sorry for the confusion! I just swapped out the link and you should be able to find the participating museums now!

  4. Jan

The “here” link does not take me to a list of participating museums. Is it working for others?

    • riss

I used the link on the post to check the participating museums, and it worked, but don’t know how to get tickets. On the dashboard there’s a link to museum day, but is not working πŸ˜•

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Jan! The link has been updated!

  5. Katie

I am confused as well, it doesn’t list museums in any way to find one, and then when I went to FAQ it said that tickets were to be printed on Jan. 4, 2016. Looks like this is a form to register a museum.

    Does everyone get free admission?
No. To get free admission, guests must present a Museum Day Live! ticket. This ticket is good for two guests.

Where can guests get the ticket?
    Available on Smithsonian.com on January 4th, 2016.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The link for the list of participating museums has been updated! You can find it by clicking through again. Hope that helps!

  6. Bev

I just got my tickets thank you. I think it helped that i signed up last yr for this.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh good! You’re so welcome!

  7. riss

Count me in to the confused group here. I created an account and I know which museum participates in my area, but there’s no link to request free tickets. And how do they know where to send the tickets when all they have is my email.

    • riss

I used your link, Heidi, but the link to “get tickets” just led me to dashboard, which is a dead end for me.

      • heidi

“A” posted the details below. Register for an account first if you don’t already have one!

  8. A

Ok that was really confusing. If you haven’t figured it out yet, register an account first (if you haven’t already) then search museums and click on the museum you want to visit, then there will be a link that says “get tickets” then it’ll open your dashboard again … with a link to get tickets. Wow.

    • Beth

Made an account . Now how do you search for museums?

    • riss

Woohoo! I finally score free tickets! Thanks for the step by step instructions. Really confusing, and my ipad acting up is not helping. I switched to laptop and it was a breeze!

    • M

Without your help A, I would have given up! =) The OP made it more confusing unintentionally, I’m sure!

  9. Missy

Awesome thanks! Got two free tickets to the zoo!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re very welcome Missy! Have fun!

  10. Christina

Got our tickets. Thank you and this is so up my alley πŸ™‚ Love museums and history!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re so welcome!

  11. Karen

I found the list by clicking on the link then clicking on the FAQS button on the dashboard. Scroll down and click on find participating museums. Hope this helps 😊

  12. db

I did the same thing as ‘A’. Register for an acccount, then in the panel on the left, you see a tab that says ‘Museum Day’ and ‘Request Tickets’ under that. You select your region, then the museum, and request to get the tickets. Super excited about this!

  13. Tina9222

    None participating in our area:-(

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Darn πŸ™

  14. whiskers1327

None in CT either, bummed ;-(

  15. Bev

You can get tickets for museums that are outside your area. I live in Pa and got tickets for Oh.

  16. Erin

We have always participated in free museum day, but I don’t see much for Minneapolis offered this time. I think all but one are always free anyway. In the past we have gotten to try some really fun kid friendly museums we would not have known about that we plan to go back to.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks for sharing your experience Erin! Glad to hear you have found some great Museums to visit!

    • heidi

Yes, I thought there would be more around MPLS! I too found the always free museums participating, but not much beyond that. Hoping for more variety and choices in the participating museums in MN next time! πŸ™‚

  17. Janet

Got 2 tickets for the Asheville Art Museum. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      YW!

  18. Amanda

This is very unusual that they are offering this in March, along with the September one they always have. This may be why not as many places are participating.

  19. Brandy

The museum I was hoping for Arizona museum of natural history was not on the list but I checked their website and actually found out they have a free day Sunday march 6th from 1-5!! So that’s awesome!! And then grabbed the March 12th free tickets to the museum of Casa grande where wild man Phil comes in with animals at 1pm! Bonus!! Thank you!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How cool! You’re so welcome! Enjoy!
