these are GREAT!!!! leak proof (like throw in the bag upside down leak proof, assuming nothing’s pushing the button) and no valves/plastic straws to deal with/wash). dishwasher safe too!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for your review Beth! Glad to hear how well they work!

  2. Holly Lynn

Are these any good? Over $5 each seems a lot for a kids bottle… We break them and lose them!

  3. Heather C.

Leary to buy them because of mold issues I read about in the reviews…

    • parrott06

I’ve never had any issues with mold and I’ve had these cups for years. The key is once they are washed don’t put the lid on it if there is still moisture in the cup. Keep on a drying rack until the cup is completely dry.

    • CO Mama

Ours look great and are 3yrs old & been washed in dishwasher. Never had a leak or mold issue. Just have to keep them clean, not sitting around unwashed for days. Anything will grow mold that holds liquid & goes unwashed.

    • Bre

We have had the adult versions and have had major mold issues. I won’t be buying these.

  4. parrott06

These cups are great and well worth the money in my opinion.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing! 😉

  5. Melissa

Does anyone actually own these? The reviews have a lot of concerns with mold growing in the lid. On the fence about this purchase and was hoping for some insight.

    • Jen

My boys have been using them at school all year. No issues with mold. I let dry every night & deep wash on weekends. I think it’s more using common sense that water bottle lids need to dry out on a regular basis 🙂

  6. NAtasha

I have these cups and they are great! Comes out a little fast for a toddler but for my 7yr old they are great.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sweet! Thanks so much for your feedback Natasha!

  7. CJ

Is this a good price for those of you who have bought them before?

  8. Lindsey

Grabbed some! Can’t finally toss the junky plastic sippy cups we have.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad you could snag the deal Lindsey!

  9. Alisa

I have experienced mold issues with these cups and was religious in washing them constantly. When there are areas that you can’t reach without breaking the cup apart that is concerning. The camelbak edy cups are great and can be fully taken apart for cleaning but they are a little pricey

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer. Sorry to hear that Alisa. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  10. Angie

Regarding the mold, I read a review where they suggest putting a toothpick in the top after you wash it to let it air out. I always do this for 24 hours and we have never had a problem. If you take the toothpick out too early, you can see it is damp. They do break pretty often, but I just buy more. The part that breaks is the part you push. Hope this helps! FYI, from someone who buys these pretty much monthly, this price is not outstanding. It is really just the normal price. Target sometimes has a better price than this and sometimes Amazon does, too.

    • Amanda

Thanks! I was just about to ask if this was just normal price for them, since it was not showing as discounted on Amazon.

      • Cari

Amanda it is a pack of two for 11.08 so they are or will be 5.54 each since it has 2 in package

    • Sheila

I feel we have had quite the opposite experience, my kids are rough on stuff we have both the plastic and stainless steel kids Contego as well as adult Contego’s and never had one break, not even through TSA bag check😊. Very high-quality and durable. I’d consider contacting customer support because I’ve never known the adults or kids Contego’s to break.

    • Laura

I agree. The last time I bought them was in December and the 2 packs were $9 and change. This isn’t a bad price, but don’t feel like you have to buy them this second.

Walgreens sells Contigo, and I find them frequently on deep clearance.

We love them. No mold issues but I only let my kids drink water, not sure if that matters. I wash in the dishwasher.

I have replaced all of our travel cups and sippy cups with Contigos over the past year and a half and I’m very happy with them. None have broken, and I have 4 rough kids and a husband who takes his to work and they get banged around and dropped, etc.

  11. Lb

Cup was great, no mold or leak issues for me but …. my son dropped it and the top cracked so we had to throw it away

  12. nin

We have 3 of these and I do like them a lot. They aren’t too big and my kids range from 3-8 and all use them and yes they have been very leak-proof for us.

All that said, I am not 100% confident it is easy to get the top completely dry. So we ONLY ever put water in these and when I wash them I even stick them in the dishwasher with the mouthpiece open. Basically I push the side until the mouthpiece slides open and then slide it down on one of the dishwasher spike things. Then when it comes out of the dishwasher I do similar to the person above and stick them in the drying rack with something like a toothpick to keep that mouth piece open and allow air to get in there. I do this a good 24hrs. I cannot see any mold, but I have never actually broken one apart to really see inside of it.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing! Good to know!

  13. Kaylene

We have used these exact water bottles for years. My 3 kids take them to school EVERY day all year long. We have about 10 of them and wash them in the dishwasher after each use. We have only had one break in the past few years and I have never had any mold issues. I will never buy another brand. We love them!

    • Kay

I just wanted to say hi! My name is Kaylene too, and spelled exactly like yours. It is very rare to find somebody with the exact spelling 🙂 and I have 3 kiddos too 🙂 Have a Happy Friday!

  14. Luna

Wow amazing comments here worth reading before making a purchase especially when it comes to kids. Thanks will try one of these

  15. Jessica

We have these and I haven’t had any issues with mold. However, I don’t recommend putting them *inside* a lunch box with food etc. Something will inevitably push the button a little (the sandwich, the container of grapes, whatever else is inside the lunchbox) and it will leak a bit. They’re amazing otherwise. I put them in the dishwasher and then let them airdry on the counter. The other good thing about Contigo is that they have a lifetime guarantee for all their products, and will replace them if something happens.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Happy to hear how well yours have held up Jessica! Thanks a bunch for your feedback!

  16. Jennifer

I would recommend these for older children. They are difficult for the little kids to press in order to drink. My 2 year old (almost 3) cannot drink from these but my 6 year old has no problem. Just something to consider if buying for younger kiddos.

    • Amanda D.

Can I ask what you use for your 2 year old. We are planing a car trip and looking for a leak proof that our 2 year old can use. Thanks for any help!!!!

  17. Cari

Target has them on their site right now for sale at 5.39 for 1…

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up Cari! It appears that they are out of stock from Target 🙁

  18. Steph

Thank you !! I was in need of new ones for the kiddos😀

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Steph!

We use these for school only. Water only. Does water mold? Maybe they aren’t good for juices?

    • Mo

Remember – even when there is just water in the cup, the child’s saliva (and the bacteria and anything else in it) is on the lid, if not also inside of it and the cup. That can most definitely lend to mold or other growth in the lid or cup if not sanitized (something beyond simply cleaning).
