Here’s a frugal tip I’ve used for years – do u have one of those ” foaming” type of hand soap dispensers? Don’t throw it out. Once it’s empty, I refill it with about 1/4 liquid soap, then the rest with hot water, to help it dissolve. Shake to blend, and you made your own foaming hand soap! It shows u what a rip off foaming hand soap is. They r easily 75% water. 😡 the only catch is do not use any soaps that have those beads mixed in. They get clogged inside the dispenser.

    • Becky

Yes! We do this all the time! My husband works for the company that owns soft soap and they have a company store we can shop at once a week. I buy these big refill containers for about $1 and then refill our foaming dispensers

I too refill the foaming soaps & I’ve even refilled them with dish soap I’ve gotten for nearly free, like the antibacterial orange one or the Olay varieties (bc my hands are so dry already ), I usually use about 2 parts soap 8 parts water & it lasts so much longer. Definitely cheaper than regular hand soap dispensers!

I second that! All those soaps are such rip offs! Liquid laundry soap too! I make my own by grating Zote bar and mixing 1 cup of that plus 1 cup of 20 mule team borax and 1 cup arm and hammer washing soda. Lasts for sooooo long!

    • Tammy

      Thank you!!!

  9. Jessica

    Thanks so much!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Jessica!

  10. Tricia

Thanks! That’s the equivalent to paying $.35 per 7.5 oz little bottle.
I’m another foaming soap fan here. I’ve used the same bottles for years – in all bathrooms and in the kitchen with Dawn.

making your own soap is fun and easy. I highly recommend it. I took a fee soap making class at my library. They also taught us how to make thieves oil. which is the best cleaner available. it smells great and has natural antibacterial properties. People used this during the plague, it worked and those people survived. Bar “soap” you buy at the store is not really soap. soap has to go through a Saponification process. Most store soaps are all chemicals. They are terrible for you and the environment. It is easy to make your own laundry detergent and cheap, same with dishwasher powder. Just my 2 cents.
