Works off of your data anytime you are not using wifi just as pandora and iheart radio does.
You can turn off the data on the phone as well
Kat, the app does use data if not on wifi but if you have a paid Spotify membership then you can download up to around 3000 songs to listen to offline (which does not use data). HTH.
That is a great solution to consider! Only thing is it takes up space or memory on the phone unless you have an SD card or a phone with a large amount of memory.
I have issues with storage on my phone but luckily I had an old iPod touch laying around that I used instead. Works great and then also doesn’t drain my phone battery.

On your phone, you can manage which apps you are ok with using data and which ones you want to only use when you have wifi access… I had to do that to help manage my data usage 🙂

I am a college student and have been using this app. The app uses either Wi-Fi or data. If it is used via Wi-Fi then there is no charge. However, if the data is turned on on the cellphone then it uses that which can rack up because streaming music apps uses A LOT of data. I do not know what cell phone provider and plan you have but I am with T-mobile post paid and they have recently allowed for certain streaming music apps without having the data charges count towards your plan! I believe only T-mobile offers such a service but I am not entirely sure. Hope that helps!

What is the difference between Spotify and Pandora?
Essentially: with Spotify you get to pick your songs where Pandora they select the songs based on music you like.

The initial song download needs to be downloaded on wifi for no data charge. Then toggle the switch “available offline” to be green (which means it will play without using data when not connected to wifi) We don’t have any issues with our data with Spotify and love it!
Spotify family membership users…..I need help. I just signed up for the family membership (thank you Collin for posting this deal 🙂 and all our phones are getting a pop up message saying “continue on this phone”? It appears that they are all synced for some reason and even though we are all on one account, we have to listen to each other’s music/playlist. Spotify does not have a customer service phone number, so any help with this issue would be much appreciated.
