Check your local Wal-Mart for mulch. They had red, brown, and black mulch for $1.96 a bag at both of my local stores!
I actually hated the Walmart mulch I got. It faded really fast and easily washes away if it rains too much
They are all rated for “season long” or 1 year. And depending on where you live and if it’s in the shade, you might not get as much sun on it. The Walmart mulch was literally just the same as their Scott brand but $1 cheaper a bag. We haven’t gotten rain yet, but it has withstood our free range chickens digging it up so it’s a winner in my book!
