   I LOVE my Paperwhite. It makes reading in bed a dream with the backlight. Significantly lighter and smaller than the Fire and definitely worth it at 79.00! Excellent for reading outside with no glare, as well.

  I’ve heard this is great, I’m worried about refurbished. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with refurbished?

  I bought my mom a refurbished Kindle (different version of Kindle than in this post ) for her first Kindle because she wasn’t sure she’d like it. I bought the extra warranty that was offered because it was cheap and I was worried about refurbished too. That warranty paid off because exactly 1 week before the 2 yrs on the warranty was to run out, the Kindle died. Filing a claim under the warranty was easy and, because it was an older model, they didn’t have any to replace it with. So they gave me a full refund on what I paid for the refurbished Kindle. It was great because my mom got to test and make sure she liked the Kindle, basically at no cost to us after the refund. Aside from a few scratches on the side of the Kindle, you would never have known it was refurbished. We wanted a case to protect it anyway so that covered all the scratches.

  This is the best response! I’m not sure if I will end up really using it so I don’t want to spend a ton of money. The fact that you can get the warranty helps, because in 2 years I will prob want a new one if I use it as much as I hear I will. Thank you so much!
