   So does this include all tanks? I’ve been looking for a tank because my son has been wanting one for quite a while, but I want one with a filter thing on the top. Can anyone help? I’m not real familiar with this stuff. TIA

  I think the $1/gallon price is really just the tank. It does not include the hood, filter, etc. All those parts will be sold separately, unless you buy a package (which I don’t think is the $1/gallon price.)

  you could buy a tank at this sale price, then add a filter to hang over the edge of the back of the tank. (a hood assembly with lid, filter, and lighting could start to get costly.) but just adding filter by itself shouldn’t be too much.
  i was an avid aquarist for many years, and a filter that hangs on the edge of the top rim of the tank can be very effective. you pull out a cartridge from that when it is time to change the filter, and it’s easy to replace – just slide a new one in. those cartridges are probably less expensive than the kind that goes into a hood assembly.
  before setup, i would suggest getting a few books from the library for your son (or you), or look up beginner guidelines online to make sure you don’t overstock the tank at first.
  when you purchase the tank, the rule of thumb is you will be able to keep about 1 inch of fish per gallon, to help you determine which size to buy. so a healthy 20-gallon aquarium could comfortably keep 15 very small fish, or 4 fish that are 5 inches long.

  $1 per gallon is the tank only. Everything else is purchased separately.

   When will the dollar per gallon sale run again , my wife and I just adopted a snake and would loveee to get her a 60 gallon tank , any info appreciated
