We have this and love it!

    • Olivia

Does it really work? I tried one and I only get two or three channels. Thnx

      • Tara

Yea we got like 15 channels and we live in the country so I was thinking maybe only 4 would work.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So glad to hear it has worked well for you! Thanks for the great feedback!

I’ve been wanting to give up my DirecTV and just watch local, plus stream using Netflix and Hulu. I purchased three of these antennas for my TV’s in hopes that this winter when my contract is up I can cancel the satellite. Anyone have experience with this?Has it worked well?

    • KT

We finally cancelled our directv a few months ago. It was 6 months before our contract was up and it ended up costing us about $120, which was equal to one month of service. Now we have the digital antenna, hulu and Netflix and only spend about $20 a month for everything! I was worried I’d miss having satellite /cable , but I don’t even notice a difference. Even my husband and daughter love it.

      • Bonez

Appreciate the feedback KT! What about a DVR? I’m thinking I might miss that the most.

        • Amy

We had a tivo for a while because I wanted the dvr. It had a subscription fee but still saved us a bunch. Now i can watch everything except for some cbs shows on hulu.

        • KT

That was the thing I thought I would miss the most because I have a lot of shows I usually record. However, hulu has most shows available next day!

        • KT

We also purchased the amazon fire sticks a while back so we have access to shows in all of the rooms and it’s great because we can move it around. My husband uses one in his office the days he works from home and we move it to the playroom for my daughter to watch shows or movies.

    Mine no change, disappointed
    🙁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer! 🙁 Sorry to hear that Jen!

  4. Sherry

We live in the country and are surrounded by very tall trees. We can’t get cable. Only Dish Network. Will this work?

    • L

Might not. I’m against mountains and never even got one channel with these. Will try it again when we move.

  5. sarah

I really want to go to only streaming service but would like local channels for weather and news. Could you use this antenna plus roku or amazon?

    • pandoraaddict

An antenna doesn’t affect streaming services (doesn’t use the Internet), but you will need the internet to use the streaming part, either a wifi enabled tv or a streaming box.

  6. Jessica

What about sports? My hubby loves all sports and that is main reason still have direct tv

    • pandoraaddict

If a local channel, like abc, nbc, plays the game wanted you’ll get it. Otherwise no, ESPN for example is a paid channel.

    • Deal Dawg

Sign up for Sling. ESPN and sports galore! No contract and much cheaper than cable or satellite. Good speed Internet connection is needed.

      • Babs

We also get the sportcenter subscription with Roku. It’s $25 a month for NHL.TV

  7. Heather C

I want this so bad but I don’t know if my husband and I can handle not having the SF Giants games during baseball season. Giants fans are the best!

  8. Mamamiautumn

We have tried two different ones and the one that has worked best was an as seen on tv from Walgreens 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your experience! Good to know!

  9. Obi

Do u still need to have the box in order to get channels or is the antenna all you need? The box I’m reffering to is the one everyone who had local channels had to buy when they started doing that a while back. Thanks

  10. CpnMom

If you have a new flat screen TV the box is built in. If you have a older version then you will still need the box

We bought this brand, but I believe ours has a 50 mile radius. We quit cable years ago, but my husband was sick of having to head to his parents everytime his team played. We get the 3 major NBC, CBS, ABC, plus FOX a few local PBS stations, and a couple other odd channels. My hubby is happy he can watch his football from his own couch again!

  12. Jim

Antenna for local in our house. We also signed up for PlayStation Vue, $45 a month for 110 channels( pretty much all you want). Also has a cloud dvr, and will store unlimited shows for up to a month before deleting it, also u only have to tell it the show you like and it records it on any channel. We love it. Paying less than when we had cable, and now have dvr, $90 for both Vue and high speed internet total each month, right in my range.
